Setup
Before first use, ensure the grinder is placed on a stable, flat surface. Remove all packaging materials. The unit features a transparent bean hopper at the top for whole coffee beans and a removable, transparent container at the bottom for ground coffee.
- Bean Hopper: Open the lid of the bean hopper and fill it with your desired amount of whole coffee beans. Ensure the lid is securely closed before operation.
- Ground Coffee Container: Verify that the removable ground coffee container is correctly inserted into its slot at the front of the unit. The grinder will not operate if this container is not properly in place.
- Power Connection: Plug the grinder into a suitable 120V~60Hz power outlet.
Operating Instructions
The De'Longhi Burr Coffee Grinder offers customizable grind settings and quantity control for your convenience.
- Grind Setting Selection: Use the dial on the side of the grinder to select your preferred grind fineness. Options typically range from coarse to medium to fine, suitable for various brewing methods.
- Quantity Control: Turn the knob on the front panel to select the desired number of cups (typically 4-12 cups). This controls the amount of coffee the grinder will process.
- Start Grinding: Press the ON/OFF button located on the top of the unit. The grinder will begin processing the beans according to your selected settings.
- Automatic Shut-off: The grinder is equipped with an automatic shut-off feature. Once the selected quantity of coffee has been ground, the unit will automatically stop.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your coffee grinder.
- Ground Coffee Container: The transparent ground coffee container is removable for easy access and cleaning. It can be washed with warm, soapy water and is dishwasher safe.
- Burr Grinding Wheel: For thorough cleaning, the upper burr grinder can be removed. Twist it to unlock and lift. Use the integrated brush to remove any packed or caked coffee grounds from the burrs and the central feeding core. Coffee oils can accumulate and cause blockages if not cleaned regularly.
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the stylish stainless steel exterior with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
Troubleshooting
- Unit Does Not Start: Ensure the ground coffee container is fully and correctly inserted into its slot. The grinder has a safety mechanism that prevents operation if the container is not in place.
- Coffee Not Feeding/Grinding Inconsistently: This can be caused by caked-on coffee grounds in the central feeding core or around the burrs. Remove the upper burr grinder and thoroughly clean any compacted coffee using the integrated brush or a toothpick.
- Static Mess with Ground Coffee: Static electricity can cause coffee grounds to stick to the container or spill. To minimize this, wait approximately one minute after grinding before removing the ground coffee container. Gently tap the grinder a couple of times on the side before pulling out the container.
