Operating Instructions

The Performance Tool M782 socket is designed for use with a 3/4-inch drive impact wrench or ratchet for heavy-duty applications.

  1. Select the Correct Tool: Ensure you are using a 3/4-inch drive impact wrench or heavy-duty ratchet that is appropriate for the task.
  2. Attach the Socket: Firmly attach the M782 socket to the drive anvil of your impact wrench or ratchet. Ensure it is fully seated and secure.
  3. Position the Socket: Place the socket squarely onto the fastener (e.g., lug nut, square budd nut). Ensure full engagement to prevent stripping the fastener or damaging the socket.
  4. Apply Power: Activate your impact wrench or apply force to your ratchet to loosen or tighten the fastener. The rounded corner design provides a tighter grip, reducing the chance of slippage.
  5. Remove the Socket: Once the task is complete, remove the socket from the fastener and then from your drive tool.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Performance Tool M782 socket, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe the socket clean of any dirt, grease, or debris. A clean cloth is usually sufficient. For stubborn grime, a mild degreaser can be used, followed by thorough drying.
  • Storage: Store the socket in a dry environment to prevent rust. A tool chest, drawer, or pegboard is ideal. Avoid leaving it exposed to moisture or corrosive substances.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the socket for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. While made of high-strength material, extreme forces can cause damage over time. Discontinue use if any damage is observed.
  • Lubrication: No specific lubrication is required for the socket itself. However, ensure your impact wrench or ratchet is properly maintained according to its own manual.
