Setup

1. Inserting the SIM Card

  1. Locate the battery cover on the back of the device.
  2. Gently remove the battery cover by sliding it down or lifting it off.
  3. If the battery is installed, remove it by lifting it from the designated slot.
  4. Insert your SIM card into the SIM card slot with the gold contacts facing down and the cut corner aligned correctly.
  5. Reinsert the battery, ensuring it clicks into place.
  6. Replace the battery cover.

2. Charging the Battery

  1. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the charging port on your BlackBerry 8520.
  2. Connect the larger end of the USB cable to the travel charger.
  3. Plug the travel charger into a wall outlet.
  4. Allow the device to charge fully before first use. The battery indicator on the screen will show charging status.

Operating Instructions

Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power/End Call button (red icon) located on the top right of the device until the BlackBerry logo appears.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power/End Call button until the "Power Off" prompt appears, then select "Power Off".

Navigation with Trackpad

The BlackBerry 8520 features an optical trackpad for precise navigation. Glide your finger over the trackpad to move the cursor or highlight items on the screen. Press down on the trackpad to select an item, similar to clicking a mouse.

Using the QWERTY Keyboard

The full QWERTY keyboard allows for efficient typing of messages, emails, and notes. Each key corresponds to a letter, number, or symbol. Use the 'Alt' key for alternate characters and the 'Shift' key for capitalization.
