Operating Instructions

  1. Prepare Paper: Gather the paper you wish to trim. Ensure it is free from staples, paper clips, or other foreign objects. Do not exceed the maximum capacity of 10 sheets.
  2. Position Paper: Lift the paper clamp. Place the paper onto the cutting bed, aligning the edge to be cut with the desired measurement guide. The cutting bed includes guides for various document sizes (e.g., A4) and angles.
  3. Close-up of the trimmer's cutting bed with measurement guides

Figure 4: Close-up view of the cutting bed, highlighting the various measurement and alignment guides.

  4. Secure Paper: Lower the paper clamp firmly onto the paper. This will hold the paper securely in place, preventing movement during the cut and ensuring accuracy.
  5. Engage Blade: Hold the blade carriage handle. The blade is encapsulated for safety and only engages when pressure is applied during the cutting motion.
  6. Hand pressing down on the blade carriage handle

  7. Perform Cut: While maintaining downward pressure on the blade carriage handle, slide the carriage smoothly along the guide rail from one end of the paper to the other. Apply consistent pressure for a clean cut.

  9. Remove Paper: Once the cut is complete, lift the paper clamp and remove the trimmed paper.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To ensure optimal performance and longevity, regularly clean your trimmer:

  • Wipe the cutting bed and guide rail with a soft, dry cloth to remove paper dust and debris.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the surface.

Blade Replacement

The Safe Cut blade is designed for user safety and is encapsulated. When the blade becomes dull, it should be replaced with a genuine Fellowes Safe Cut replacement blade cartridge.

  1. Identify Blade Cartridge: The blade is housed within the yellow and black carriage.
  2. Remove Old Blade: Carefully slide the blade carriage to the center of the rail. Follow the instructions provided with the replacement blade for safe removal of the old cartridge. Typically, this involves pressing a release mechanism and sliding the old cartridge out.
