Setup
1. Charging the Device
Before first use, fully charge your ARCHOS 2 Vision.
- Connect the device to your computer using the supplied USB 2.0 cable.
- The device will automatically begin charging. A battery icon on the screen will indicate the charging status.
- Allow approximately 3-4 hours for a full charge. A full charge provides up to 10 hours of music playback or 4 hours of video playback.
2. Powering On/Off
- To power on, slide the power switch (refer to Figure 2) to the ON position.
- To power off, slide the power switch to the OFF position.
- The device may also enter a sleep mode after a period of inactivity to conserve battery.
Operating Instructions
Navigation
The ARCHOS 2 Vision features a tactile slider for navigating menus and lists.
- Sliding: Gently slide your finger across the tactile area below the screen to scroll through menu options or lists.
- Selection: Press the 'M' button (Menu/Select) to confirm a selection.
- Back: Use the 'M' button (long press) or a dedicated back button (if present, refer to device layout) to return to the previous menu.
Connecting to a Computer
To transfer files, connect your ARCHOS 2 Vision to a computer.
- Ensure the device is powered on.
- Connect the device to your computer using the USB cable.
- The device will appear as a removable disk drive on your computer (compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux with mass storage support).
- You can now drag and drop files directly to and from the device.
Managing Files and Storage
The ARCHOS 2 Vision has 8 GB of internal storage and supports Micro-SD cards for expansion.
- Internal Storage: Files can be organized into folders directly on the device.
- Micro-SD Card: Insert a compatible Micro-SD (SDHC) card into the slot (refer to Figure 2). The device will automatically detect the card, and its contents will be accessible through the file browser or media library.
Listening to Music
The player supports MP3, WMA (non-protected), APE, FLAC, and WAV audio formats.
- From the main menu, select "Media Library" then "All Music" or browse by "Artist," "Album," or "Folder."
- Select a song to begin playback.
- Use the volume buttons (+/-) to adjust the sound level.
- The device supports lyrics display (.LRC files) if available with the music track.

Watching Videos
The player supports AVI video format.
- From the main menu, navigate to the video section.
- Select a video file to begin playback.
- Ensure video files are in a compatible format and resolution (220x176 pixels) for optimal viewing.
Viewing Photos
The player supports JPG image format.
- From the main menu, navigate to the photo section.
- Select an image file to view it on the 2-inch color screen.
Using the FM Radio
The ARCHOS 2 Vision includes a built-in FM radio.
- Connect earphones to the device; they act as the antenna for the FM radio.
- From the main menu, select "FM Radio."
- Use the navigation controls to scan for stations (87.5 - 108 MHz / 76 - 90 MHz).
- You can save your favorite stations for quick access.
Recording Voice and FM
The device features a built-in microphone for voice recording and can also record from the FM radio.
- Voice Recording: Navigate to the "Recordings" section and select "Voice Record." Follow on-screen prompts to start and stop recording.

Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on:
- Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the device to a power source via USB and allow it to charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on again.
- Cannot transfer files:
- Verify the USB cable is securely connected to both the device and the computer. Ensure the device is powered on. Try connecting to a different USB port or computer. Confirm your computer's operating system supports mass storage devices.
- Poor audio quality or no sound:
- Check the volume level. Ensure earphones are properly plugged into the headphone jack. Test with a different pair of earphones to rule out faulty accessories. Verify the audio file format is supported.
- Screen is unresponsive or frozen:
- Locate the reset pinhole (refer to Figure 3) and gently press it with a thin, non-metallic object (like a paperclip) to restart the device. This will not erase your data.
- Tactile slider is not responsive:
- Ensure your finger is clean and dry. If the device is frozen, perform a reset as described above.
