1. Introduction
The Westek OMLC163BC Motion-Sensing Light Control automatically activates a light when motion is detected within its sensing range. This device is designed to provide convenient, automatic lighting and enhance security by deterring unwanted intrusion. It is compatible with various bulb types up to 150 Watts.

2. Safety Information
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, read and follow all instructions carefully.
- Electrical Safety: Always turn off power to the light socket at the circuit breaker before installation, removal, or servicing.
- Fixture Compatibility: The motion sensor is not designed for use with enclosed or shaded fixtures, or with fixtures that have glass or plastic covers. Use only with ceiling-mounted, bare bulb fixtures.
- Bulb Compatibility: Suitable for use with incandescent, compact fluorescent (CFL), or LED bulbs up to 150 Watts. Do not exceed the maximum wattage.
- Installation Height: Suitable for fixtures mounted from 8 to 18 feet high.
- Proposition 65 Warning: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
3. Features
The Westek OMLC163BC Motion-Sensing Light Control offers the following features:
- Automatically turns light on when motion is detected.
- Turns off 10 minutes after motion stops.
- 180-degree sensing window with a 20 ft detection zone.
- Compatible with LED, compact fluorescent, halogen, and incandescent bulbs up to 150 Watts.
- Easy screw-in installation.

4. Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation:
- Turn off power: Ensure the power to the light socket is turned off at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.
- Remove existing bulb: Carefully remove any light bulb currently in the socket.
- Screw in device: Screw the motion-sensing light control device into the empty light socket until it is snug.
- Install light bulb: Screw your desired light bulb (LED, CFL, halogen, or incandescent up to 150 Watts) into the control device's socket.
- Adjust sensor: The motion detection sensor can be tilted up or down (up to 20 degrees in either direction) and rotated left or right (up to 90 degrees in either direction) to optimize the detection area.
- Restore power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.
NOTE: For best performance, the sensor should be oriented below the bulb.

5. Operation
Once installed and powered on, the Westek OMLC163BC Motion-Sensing Light Control operates automatically:
- The light will turn on when motion is detected within its 180-degree, 20-foot detection zone.
- The light will remain on as long as motion is continuously detected.
- After motion ceases, the light will automatically turn off after approximately 10 minutes.
- The sensor is designed to ignore ambient light, meaning it will activate regardless of existing light conditions.
6. Maintenance
The Westek OMLC163BC Motion-Sensing Light Control requires minimal maintenance:
- Ensure the sensor lens is kept clean and free from obstructions (e.g., dirt, dust, spiderwebs) to maintain optimal detection performance. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents on the device.
- Periodically check the device for any signs of damage or loose connections.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your motion-sensing light control, refer to the following:
- Light does not turn on:
Check power: Ensure the power to the light socket is on at the circuit breaker.
Check bulb: Verify the light bulb is working and correctly screwed into the device.
Check sensor alignment: Adjust the sensor's direction to ensure it covers the desired detection area.
Obstructions: Ensure there are no obstructions blocking the sensor's view. - Light stays on continuously:
Continuous motion: Confirm there is no continuous motion within the detection zone (e.g., swaying branches, pets).
Sensor malfunction: If no motion is present and the light remains on, the sensor may be faulty. - Light turns on too frequently or not frequently enough:
Sensor sensitivity: This device does not have adjustable sensitivity. Ensure the sensor is aimed correctly to cover only the desired area.
Environmental factors: Extreme temperatures or strong air currents can sometimes affect sensor performance. - Light turns off too quickly or too slowly:
Fixed duration: The device has a fixed 10-minute duration after motion stops and does not offer adjustable time settings.
