5. Operation

Once installed and powered on, the Westek OMLC163BC Motion-Sensing Light Control operates automatically:

  • The light will turn on when motion is detected within its 180-degree, 20-foot detection zone.
  • The light will remain on as long as motion is continuously detected.
  • After motion ceases, the light will automatically turn off after approximately 10 minutes.
  • The sensor is designed to ignore ambient light, meaning it will activate regardless of existing light conditions.

6. Maintenance

The Westek OMLC163BC Motion-Sensing Light Control requires minimal maintenance:

  • Ensure the sensor lens is kept clean and free from obstructions (e.g., dirt, dust, spiderwebs) to maintain optimal detection performance. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents on the device.
  • Periodically check the device for any signs of damage or loose connections.

7. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your motion-sensing light control, refer to the following:

  • Light does not turn on:
Check power: Ensure the power to the light socket is on at the circuit breaker.
Check bulb: Verify the light bulb is working and correctly screwed into the device.
Check sensor alignment: Adjust the sensor's direction to ensure it covers the desired detection area.
Obstructions: Ensure there are no obstructions blocking the sensor's view.
  • Light stays on continuously:
Continuous motion: Confirm there is no continuous motion within the detection zone (e.g., swaying branches, pets).
Sensor malfunction: If no motion is present and the light remains on, the sensor may be faulty.
  • Light turns on too frequently or not frequently enough:
Sensor sensitivity: This device does not have adjustable sensitivity. Ensure the sensor is aimed correctly to cover only the desired area.
Environmental factors: Extreme temperatures or strong air currents can sometimes affect sensor performance.
  • Light turns off too quickly or too slowly:
Fixed duration: The device has a fixed 10-minute duration after motion stops and does not offer adjustable time settings.
