3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Rack Mounting
The CS1316 KVM Switch includes a rack mount kit for installation into a standard 19-inch equipment rack. Follow the instructions provided with the rack mount kit to securely install the unit.
3.2 Connecting the Console
Connect your monitor, USB or PS/2 keyboard, and USB or PS/2 mouse to the console ports located on the front panel of the KVM switch.

3.3 Connecting Computers
Use the provided KVM cables to connect your computers to the CS1316. Each KVM port on the switch connects to a computer's video output, USB port, and/or PS/2 keyboard/mouse ports.
- Connect the video cable from the computer to the corresponding video input port on the KVM switch.
- Connect the USB cable from the computer to the corresponding USB input port on the KVM switch.
- For PS/2 computers, connect the PS/2 keyboard and mouse cables from the computer to the corresponding PS/2 input ports on the KVM switch.

3.4 Power Connection
Connect the included power adapter to the power jack on the KVM switch, then plug the adapter into an AC power source. The KVM switch will power on automatically.
3.5 Grounding
For safety, connect the grounding wire from the KVM switch to an appropriate ground source.

4.1 Switching Between Computers
The CS1316 offers multiple methods for switching control between connected computers:
- Front Panel Pushbuttons: Press the corresponding port selection button on the front panel to switch to the desired computer.
- Hotkeys: Use specific keyboard key combinations (hotkeys) to quickly switch between ports. Refer to the Quick Start Guide or the full user manual for a list of hotkey commands.
- On-Screen Display (OSD): Access the OSD menu to select computers, configure settings, and manage the KVM switch. The OSD provides a graphical interface for easy navigation.
4.2 DynaSync Technology
The DynaSync feature ensures that the Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) is maintained for each connected server. This allows the KVM switch to automatically set the optimal video resolution and display parameters for your monitor, eliminating the need for manual adjustments when switching between computers.
4.3 Auto Sensing Expansion
When expanding your KVM setup by adding or removing CS1316 units, the auto-sensing expansion feature automatically detects these changes and reconfigures the installation. This simplifies the management of larger server environments without requiring manual configuration or software installation.
