4. Maintenance
Filter Bag Cleaning
Regularly clean the single-chamber filter bag to maintain optimal cleaning performance. The frequency of cleaning depends on the amount of debris in your pool. Simply unzip the bag and empty the collected debris. Rinse the bag thoroughly with a hose to remove fine particles.
General Care and Part Replacement
The Polaris 280 is built for durability, but certain parts may require periodic replacement due to wear and tear from continuous use in chlorinated water. Common replaceable parts include the black mesh tail scrubber, the zipper bag, backup valve, connector assembly, and swing axle. These parts are designed for easy replacement, often without requiring specialized tools or expertise.
After each use, clean the cleaner and store it in a shaded area to prolong its lifespan.
5. Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
- Cleaner not moving or getting stuck: Ensure the hose is not tangled. Check for obstructions in the cleaner's wheels or intake. Verify adequate water pressure from the booster pump.
- Cleaner not picking up debris: Check if the filter bag is full and needs emptying. Inspect the intake for any blockages. Ensure the sweep hose is functioning correctly to agitate debris.
- Tail end floats or sprays water excessively: Adjust the tail swiper's position. Consider adding an additional foam wiper to weigh down the tail if necessary, ensuring it does not impede movement.
- Cracked or broken components: While durable, plastic components like sidewall connectors or clips can wear out. These are typically replaceable parts. Refer to the Polaris website or authorized dealers for replacement parts.
