4.2. Tuning Your Instrument
The GA-1 offers two methods for tuning: direct input or using the built-in microphone.
4.2.1. Direct Input Tuning (Electric Instruments)
For electric guitars and basses, connect your instrument directly to the GA-1 using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
- Plug one end of a 1/4-inch instrument cable into your instrument's output jack.
- Plug the other end into the INPUT jack on the right side of the GA-1 tuner.
- Pluck a single string on your instrument. The GA-1 will automatically detect the note.

- The LCD needle-type meter will show if the note is flat, sharp, or in tune.
- The red LED on the left indicates the note is flat.
- The red LED on the right indicates the note is sharp.
- The green LED in the center indicates the note is perfectly in tune.
- Adjust your instrument's tuning peg until the green LED illuminates and the LCD needle is centered.

4.2.2. Built-in Microphone Tuning (Acoustic Instruments)
For acoustic guitars, basses, or other acoustic instruments, use the GA-1's high-sensitivity built-in microphone.
- Place the GA-1 near the sound source of your acoustic instrument.
- Pluck a single string or play a note. The tuner will pick up the sound via its microphone.
- Follow the same LCD and LED indicator guidance as for direct input tuning to adjust your instrument.
4.3. Flat Tuning Mode (Quinta Flat)
The Quinta Flat Tuning mode allows you to tune your instrument down by 1 to 5 semitones (half steps), which is useful for various musical styles requiring lowered tunings.
- While in Guitar or Bass mode, press the FLAT button repeatedly to select the desired number of semitones to tune down (b, bb, bbb, bbbb, bbbbb).
- The flat symbol(s) will appear on the LCD display, indicating the active flat tuning setting.
- Tune your instrument as usual, and the GA-1 will guide you to the correct lowered pitch.
4.4. Sound Out Function
The Sound Out function allows the GA-1 to emit a reference tone, which can be used for manual tuning by ear or for ear training exercises.
- Press the SOUND button. The GA-1 will emit a reference tone through its internal speaker.
- Press the G/B button to cycle through the available reference notes (E, A, D, G, B, E for guitar; E, A, D, G for bass).
- Adjust your instrument's pitch to match the emitted tone.
4.5. Using the Tilt-Slit
For convenient hands-free viewing, the GA-1 features a tilt-slit on its rear panel.
- Insert a standard guitar pick into the tilt-slit on the back of the unit.
- This will allow the tuner to stand upright on a flat surface, providing an optimal viewing angle for the display.
