3. Setup and First Use

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and dispose of them responsibly.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the steam baskets, lid, and rice bowl in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the base unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base unit in water.
  3. Assembly: Place the base unit on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Fill the water reservoir with clean water up to the maximum fill line. Do not overfill.
  4. Stacking Baskets: The steam baskets are designed to stack. Place the first basket onto the base unit, then add subsequent baskets as needed. Ensure they are securely seated.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Prepare Food: Wash and prepare your food items. Cut larger items into smaller, uniform pieces for even cooking.
  2. Load Baskets: Place food loosely in the steam baskets. Do not overcrowd the baskets, as this can impede steam circulation and affect cooking performance. For rice, use the provided rice bowl and place it in one of the steam baskets.
  3. Assemble Steamer: Stack the loaded baskets onto the base unit, then place the lid securely on the top basket.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a suitable 220V, 50Hz electrical outlet.
  5. Set Timer: Turn the timer dial to the desired cooking time, up to a maximum of 60 minutes. The steamer will begin to heat and produce steam.
  6. Monitor Water Level: If steaming for extended periods, you may need to add water to the reservoir. Use the water refill opening on the side of the base unit if available, or carefully remove the baskets and lid to add water directly.
  7. Automatic Shut-off: The steamer will automatically turn off once the set cooking time has elapsed or if the water reservoir runs dry. A bell may sound to indicate completion.
  8. Remove Food: Carefully remove the lid and baskets using oven mitts or handles, as steam and parts will be hot.
  9. Unplug: Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet after use.

5. Cooking Guide

Steaming times can vary based on the type, quantity, and size of food, as well as personal preference. The following are general guidelines:

  • Vegetables: Most vegetables (broccoli, carrots, green beans) take 10-20 minutes. Firmer vegetables like potatoes may require longer.
  • Fish/Seafood: Fillets typically cook in 10-15 minutes.
  • Eggs: Hard-boiled eggs can be steamed in 12-15 minutes.
  • Rice: Use the rice bowl. For 1 cup of rice, add 1.5-2 cups of water. Cooking time is approximately 20-30 minutes.

Always check food for doneness before serving.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your steamer.

  1. Before Cleaning: Always unplug the steamer and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Baskets, Lid, Rice Bowl: These parts are dishwasher safe or can be washed by hand in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Base Unit: Wipe the exterior of the base unit with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers. Never immerse the base unit in water.
  4. Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up in the water reservoir. To descale, fill the reservoir with a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar. Run the steamer for 20-30 minutes. Unplug, let cool, then empty and rinse the reservoir thoroughly. Repeat if necessary.
  5. Storage: Ensure all parts are clean and dry before storing. The baskets can be stacked for compact storage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Steamer not turning on: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into the outlet and the appliance. Ensure the timer dial is set to a cooking duration.
  • No steam or insufficient steam: Ensure the water reservoir is filled to the appropriate level. Check that the lid is properly seated and baskets are stacked correctly.
  • Food not cooking evenly or taking too long: Do not overcrowd the baskets. Cut food into uniform sizes. Ensure there is enough water in the reservoir.
  • Water leakage from the base: Check that the water reservoir is not overfilled. Ensure all baskets are correctly aligned and seated on the base unit. If leakage persists, discontinue use and contact customer support.
