This manual provides essential information for the safe and correct installation and maintenance of your load center cover.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Risk of electric shock or electrocution. Installation and servicing of electrical equipment should only be performed by qualified, licensed personnel. Always turn off power at the main service panel before working on or near electrical equipment.

  • Read all instructions carefully before installation.
  • Ensure the load center is completely de-energized before attempting any installation or maintenance.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and insulated gloves.
  • This cover is for indoor use only. Do not install in outdoor or wet locations.
  • Verify that the cover is compatible with your specific Square D QO load center model.

3. Package Contents

  • 1 x Square D QOC30UF 30-Space Load Center Flush Cover

Note: Load center and circuit breakers are sold separately.

4. Installation

The QOC30UF cover is designed for field installation. Follow these steps for proper mounting:

  1. De-energize the Load Center: Before beginning, ensure all power to the load center is turned off at the main service disconnect. Verify with a voltage tester.
  2. Prepare the Load Center: Ensure the load center box is properly installed, plumb, and securely mounted in the wall opening for flush installation.
  3. Position the Cover: Carefully align the QOC30UF cover over the load center box. The cover's floating, spring-mounted trim is designed to automatically adjust for proper flush alignment with the wall surface.
  4. Secure the Cover: Use the appropriate fasteners (typically screws provided with the load center or cover, if applicable) to secure the cover to the load center box. Tighten screws evenly until the cover is firmly attached and flush with the wall.
  5. Final Check: Verify that the cover is securely attached, flush, and that the hinged access door opens and closes smoothly.

This image displays the Square D QOC30UF flush-mount cover for a load center. The cover is dark gray, made of metal, and features a hinged access door on the front. The door is shown open, revealing the internal structure designed to accommodate up to 30 circuit breakers. Mounting holes are visible on the perimeter of the main panel.

5. Operation

Once installed, the QOC30UF cover provides secure access to the circuit breakers within the load center. To operate or inspect breakers, simply open the hinged access door. After performing any necessary actions, ensure the door is closed securely to maintain safety and protect the internal components.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and proper function of your load center cover, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the cover for any signs of physical damage, corrosion, or loose fasteners.
  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior surface of the cover with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  • Fastener Check: Ensure all mounting screws remain tight. Do not overtighten.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Cover does not align properly: The floating, spring-mounted trim is designed for automatic adjustment. Re-check the positioning and ensure the load center box is correctly installed and plumb within the wall opening.
  • Cover appears loose after installation: Verify all mounting screws are securely tightened. If the issue persists, inspect the load center box for proper mounting.
  • Hinged door is stiff or difficult to open/close: Check for any obstructions or debris around the hinges. A small amount of silicone lubricant can be applied to the hinges if necessary, but avoid getting it on electrical components.
