4. Setup and Installation

The Calibre ceiling fan offers a dual mount hanging system, allowing for both downrod and flush mount installations to accommodate various ceiling heights. Professional installation is recommended for optimal safety and performance.

4.1 Mounting the Fan

  1. Secure the mounting bracket to the ceiling outlet box. Ensure the outlet box is securely fastened to a building structure.
  2. Assemble the downrod (for standard mount) or prepare for flush mount.
  3. Carefully lift the fan motor assembly and attach it to the mounting bracket.

4.2 Electrical Connections

  1. Before making any electrical connections, ensure the power is OFF at the circuit breaker.
  2. Connect the fan's electrical wires to the household wiring according to the wiring diagram provided in the full instruction manual (not included here).
  3. Install the remote control receiver into the canopy. Note that the space for the receiver and wiring can be tight; carefully arrange wires to ensure a proper fit.
  4. Set the DIP switches on both the remote control and the receiver to the same configuration. It is recommended to set at least one DIP switch to the "1" position on both units to avoid interference with other fans.

4.3 Attaching Blades and Light Kit

  1. Attach the fan blades to the blade brackets using the provided screws.
  2. Secure the blade brackets to the motor housing.
  3. Install the light kit assembly to the bottom of the fan motor housing.
  4. Insert the recommended 100W (A-type) bulb (not included) into the light kit.
  5. Attach the frosted glass shade.

5. Operating Instructions

Your Canarm Calibre ceiling fan is operated by the included handheld remote control.

5.1 Remote Control Functions

  • Fan Speed Control: The remote allows you to select between 3 fan speeds. Press the respective buttons to adjust the airflow.
  • Light Control: The remote includes a light dimmer function. Press the light button to turn the light on/off, and hold it to dim or brighten the light.

5.2 Reversible Airflow

The fan features a reversible motor for year-round comfort. A slide switch on the fan's motor housing controls the direction of airflow.

  • Summer Mode (Counter-clockwise): Pushes air downward, creating a cooling breeze.
  • Winter Mode (Clockwise): Draws air upward, circulating warm air trapped near the ceiling.

To change the direction of airflow, ensure the fan is OFF and the blades have stopped completely before moving the slide switch.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will help prolong the life and appearance of your ceiling fan.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the fan with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish.
  • Blade Care: Check fan blades for dust accumulation. The design of this fan helps minimize dust, but occasional cleaning is recommended.
  • Tighten Fasteners: Periodically check all screws and fasteners on the fan and light kit to ensure they are secure.

Always ensure the power is OFF at the circuit breaker before performing any cleaning or maintenance.

7. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your Canarm Calibre ceiling fan, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

TroubleSuggestion
Fan will not start
  • Check fuses and circuit breakers.
  • Check wiring connections to fan.
  • Check wiring connections in switch housing. CAUTION: Turn power off for last two items.
Fan sounds noisy
  • Check to make sure that all screws in motor housing are snug.
  • Check to make sure that blade bracket screws are tight.
  • Check to make sure that marrettes (wire nuts) in switch housing are not rattling against wall of switch housing.
  • If fan has a light kit, make sure switch housing screws and set screws are tight.
  • Some fan motors are sensitive to signals from solid state variable controls. If a solid state controller is used, change to an alternative control.
  • Allow a 24-hour break-in period to eliminate most noises.
Fan wobbles or shakes excessively
  • Check that all blades are screwed firmly into blade brackets.
  • Check that blade brackets are secured firmly to motor.
  • Check distance from tip of blades to ceiling. Gently bend up or down the blade brackets until all distances are the same.

  • Check that the downrod hemisphere notch is engaged in canopy.
  • Check to make sure that jam screws in downrod are tightened.
