Setup and Installation

Speaker Placement Guide

For optimal performance, consider the following placement guidelines for your TSLCR5 center channel speaker:

• Center Channel: Position the TSLCR5 directly above or below the center of your television or projection screen, at ear level when seated, if possible. This ensures clear dialogue and sound localization.
• Surround Sound: While primarily a center channel, this speaker can also be used for surround sound applications. For side surrounds, place them to the sides of the listening area, slightly behind and above ear level. For rear surrounds, place them behind the listening area.
• Wall Structure: Ensure the chosen location has sufficient depth and is free of studs, wiring, and plumbing. Use a stud finder to locate wall studs.

Installation Instructions

1. Prepare the Location:

   Once you have selected the ideal location, use a stud finder to ensure there are no obstructions within the wall. Mark the exact center of your desired speaker placement.

2. Trace the Cut-Out:

   Place the provided cut-out template on the wall at the marked center. Use a pencil to carefully trace around the inside edge of the template. Ensure the template is level before tracing.

3. Cut the Opening:

   Using a drywall saw or rotary tool, carefully cut along the traced line. Take caution to make a clean cut. Once the hole is cut, remove any debris.

4. Run Speaker Wire:

   Run high-quality speaker wire (16-gauge or thicker recommended for runs under 50 feet) from your amplifier/receiver to the cut-out opening. Leave enough slack to comfortably connect to the speaker terminals.
5. Connect Speaker Wires:

   Strip approximately 1/2 inch of insulation from the ends of the speaker wires. Connect the positive (+) wire (usually red or marked) from your amplifier to the red (+) terminal on the speaker. Connect the negative (-) wire (usually black or unmarked) from your amplifier to the black (-) terminal on the speaker. Ensure a secure connection by pressing down the spring-loaded terminals and inserting the bare wire.

6. Mount the Speaker:

   Carefully insert the speaker into the cut-out opening. The speaker features a unique wall locking mounting system. Tighten the mounting screws (usually located on the front baffle under the grill) which will cause the mounting clamps to pivot outwards and secure the speaker firmly to the drywall. 7. Attach the Grill:

   Once the speaker is securely mounted, carefully attach the paintable grill. The grill is designed to fit snugly over the speaker frame.

Operating Instructions

The TSLCR5 is a passive speaker and requires an external amplifier or A/V receiver to operate. Ensure your amplifier/receiver is compatible with an 8-ohm impedance load.

• Power On: After installation, connect your amplifier/receiver to a power source and turn it on.
