Key Features

Setup Instructions

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your Wayne CWS100 pump. Ensure all local plumbing and electrical codes are followed. The pump is designed for shallow well applications up to 90 feet deep.

1. Site Selection and Mounting

Choose a dry, well-ventilated location as close to the well as possible. Mount the pump on a solid, level surface to minimize vibration and noise. Use appropriate bolts to secure the pump base.

2. Plumbing Connections

Connect the suction line (1-1/4 inch NPT) from the well to the pump's suction port. Connect the discharge line (3/4 inch NPT) from the pump to your household plumbing system. Ensure all connections are watertight using thread sealant. Consider increasing suction plumbing diameter or decreasing pipe friction for improved performance.

3. Electrical Wiring

The pump is factory-set for 240V operation. If 120V operation is desired, consult the wiring diagram provided in the full user manual for proper conversion. Connect the pump to a dedicated, properly grounded electrical circuit with appropriate overcurrent protection. All electrical work should be performed by a qualified electrician.

4. Priming the Pump

Before initial operation, the pump must be primed. Remove the priming plug from the dedicated priming port on the volute. Fill the pump casing and suction line completely with water until it overflows. Replace the priming plug securely. This step is critical for jet pump operation.

Operating Instructions

Once properly installed and primed, the Wayne CWS100 pump operates automatically based on system pressure.

1. Initial Start-up

After priming, restore power to the pump. The pump will start and build pressure. The pressure switch is pre-set to turn the pump on at 30 PSI and off at 50 PSI. Allow the pump to run until it reaches the cut-off pressure and shuts off automatically.

2. Normal Operation

The pump will cycle on and off as water is used and system pressure drops below the cut-in setting. Ensure there are no leaks in the plumbing system, as this can cause the pump to short cycle (turn on and off frequently).

3. Shutting Down

For temporary shutdown, simply turn off the power to the pump at the circuit breaker. For extended periods of non-use, especially in freezing temperatures, drain the pump and plumbing lines completely to prevent damage.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and efficient operation of your well pump.

Troubleshooting

This section provides basic troubleshooting steps for common issues. For more complex problems, consult a qualified professional or refer to the complete user manual.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
