Introduction
This instruction manual provides detailed guidance for converting your DaVinci full-size crib into a full-size bed or your mini crib into a twin bed using the DaVinci M5789 Hidden Hardware Conversion Kit. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning assembly to ensure proper and safe conversion.
Setup
The conversion kit includes two long side rails and necessary hardware to transform your existing crib into a larger bed. The headboard and footboard of your new bed will be formed by the end pieces of your original crib.
Parts Included:
- 2 x Side Rails (approx. 74.5 inches long, 4.75 inches high, 1.75 inches deep)
- Mounting Hardware (screws, bolts, brackets)
Tools Required:
- Screwdriver
- Allen Wrench (often included with crib, or standard size)
Conversion Steps:
- Prepare the Crib: Carefully disassemble your crib, removing the front and back rails. Retain the headboard and footboard sections.
- Attach Side Rails: Align the new side rails with the designated attachment points on your crib's headboard and footboard. Ensure the rails are oriented correctly, with the mattress support ledge facing inward.
- Secure Hardware: Use the provided screws and bolts to securely fasten the side rails to the headboard and footboard. Tighten all connections firmly, but do not overtighten.
- Verify Stability: Once assembled, gently shake the bed frame to ensure all connections are secure and the structure is stable.

Operating Instructions
Once the conversion kit is installed, your crib has been transformed into a twin or full-size bed frame. This frame is designed to accommodate a standard twin or full-size mattress.
Mattress and Foundation:
The DaVinci Hidden Hardware Bed Conversion Kit requires a separate twin or full-size bed mattress and a box spring or slats for proper mattress support. The side rails provide the frame, but not the foundation for the mattress. Ensure your mattress and foundation are compatible with the bed frame dimensions.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance will help preserve the quality and longevity of your DaVinci bed frame.
Cleaning:
- Wipe surfaces with a soft, damp cloth.
- Use mild soap if necessary, then wipe dry immediately.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or strong detergents, as these can damage the finish.
General Care:
- Periodically check all bolts and screws to ensure they remain tight. Retighten as needed to maintain stability.
- The bed frame is constructed from 100% sustainable New Zealand pine wood and finished with a non-toxic, lead and phthalate safe multi-step painting process.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues during or after the conversion, refer to the following common solutions:
- Holes Not Aligning / Screws Not Working: Double-check the orientation of the side rails and ensure you are using the correct hardware for each connection point. Some older crib models may have unthreaded holes, which might require specific hardware or a different approach. Refer to your original crib's manual for specific instructions on conversion.
- Bed Feels Shaky: Ensure all bolts and screws are fully tightened. Loose connections can lead to instability. Re-examine each joint and tighten any loose hardware.
- Mattress Falling Through: This conversion kit provides the bed frame, but a separate mattress foundation (box spring or slats) is required to support the mattress. The kit does not include these items.
