Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all parts are present.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the water tank, filter holder, and drip tray with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
  3. Filling the Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level indicator. Replace the tank securely.
  4. Priming the Machine:
    • Ensure the water tank is filled.
    • Place a container under the frothing nozzle.
    • Plug in the machine. The indicator light will blink.
    • Once the light stops blinking, turn the selector knob to the steam position (usually indicated by a steam icon).
    • Allow water to flow through the frothing nozzle until a steady stream appears. Turn the knob back to the neutral position. The machine is now primed.

Operating Instructions

Making Espresso

  1. Prepare the Filter Holder:
    • Insert the desired filter basket (single or double shot) into the universal filter holder.
    • For ground coffee: Use the measuring spoon to add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter basket. Do not overfill.
    • For E.S.E. pods: Place one E.S.E. pod into the appropriate filter basket.
  2. Engage Precise Tamp System: Insert the filter holder into the brewing head. Rotate it firmly to the right until it locks into place. The patented Precise Tamp System will automatically compress the coffee grounds to the optimal level.
  3. Place Cup: Position one or two espresso cups on the drip tray directly under the filter holder spouts.
  4. Brew Espresso: Ensure the machine is heated (indicator light solid). Turn the selector knob to the coffee brewing position (usually indicated by a coffee cup icon). Espresso will begin to flow into your cup(s).
  5. Stop Brewing: Once the desired amount of espresso is reached, turn the selector knob back to the neutral position.

Mess-Free Cake Ejection

After brewing, remove the filter holder from the machine. To eject the used coffee grounds (the "cake"), simply press the button or lever on the filter holder. The coffee cake will be cleanly ejected, minimizing mess.

Frothing Milk for Cappuccinos and Lattes

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to about one-third full.
  2. Heat Machine: Ensure the machine is heated (indicator light solid). Turn the selector knob to the steam position. Wait for the steam indicator light to become solid, indicating optimal steam temperature.
  3. Froth Milk: Immerse the frothing nozzle tip just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam valve (usually by turning the knob further or pressing a button). Move the pitcher up and down to create foam.
  4. Stop Frothing: Once desired foam consistency and temperature are reached, close the steam valve and turn the selector knob back to the neutral position.
  5. Clean Nozzle: Immediately wipe the frothing nozzle with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly open the steam valve again to clear any milk from inside the nozzle.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your espresso machine.

  • Daily Cleaning:
    • Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray and grid after each use or when the indicator floats up.
    • Water Tank: Rinse the water tank daily and refill with fresh water.
    • Filter Holder & Baskets: Rinse the filter holder and filter baskets under running water after each use.
    • Frothing Nozzle: As mentioned in the operating instructions, clean immediately after frothing milk.
  • Weekly Cleaning:
    • Thoroughly wash the water tank, drip tray, and filter holder with warm soapy water.
    • Use a small brush to clean any coffee residue from the brewing head.
  • Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in the machine, affecting performance.
    • Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
    • Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines, following the product's instructions.
    • Alternatively, a solution of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio) can be used, followed by several rinses with fresh water.
