INTEX 2500 GPH Krystal Clear Pool Filter Pump
Model: 56633E
Brand: Intex
Product Overview
The Intex 2,500 GPH Krystal Clear Filter Cartridge Pump is designed to maintain clean and clear water in your above-ground pool. With a pump flow rate of 2,500 gallons per hour and a system flow rate of 1,900 gallons per hour, it efficiently circulates and filters pool water. This pump features Hydro Aeration Technology for improved circulation, water clarity, and increased negative ions at the water surface. It is easy to install, includes an auto timer, and uses Type B filter cartridges for simple maintenance.
Setup and Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure all components are present and undamaged. The pump is designed for above-ground pools and requires partial assembly. Follow these steps for proper setup:
- Placement: Position the filter pump on a stable, level surface near your pool. Ensure it is at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from the pool edge and connected to a grounded electrical outlet.
- Hose Connections: Attach the included hoses to the pump's inlet and outlet ports, and then connect them to your pool's inlet and outlet fittings. Secure all connections with hose clamps to prevent leaks.
- Filter Cartridge Installation: Open the filter housing and insert a Type B filter cartridge. Ensure it is seated correctly before closing and securing the housing lid.
- Filling the System: Once all connections are secure, fill your pool with water. Allow water to flow into the pump system to prime it.
- Air Release: Open the air release valve on top of the filter chamber to allow any trapped air to escape. Close the valve once a steady stream of water emerges.

Note: Plunger valves and 1.5-inch (38mm) outlet fittings are not included with this pump and may be required depending on your pool setup. One Hydro Aeration Technology inlet fitting is included.
Operating Instructions
Once the pump is properly installed and primed, you can begin operation:
- Power On: Plug the pump into a grounded electrical outlet. The pump will begin to circulate water.
- Auto Timer: Utilize the built-in auto timer to set desired operating cycles. The timer allows for preset 2 to 12-hour cycles, optimizing filtration time and energy consumption. Refer to the timer dial on the pump for specific settings.
- Hydro Aeration Technology: This pump incorporates Hydro Aeration Technology, which improves water circulation and filtration, enhances water clarity, and increases negative ions at the water surface, contributing to a cleaner and healthier swimming environment.
- Daily Operation: For optimal water quality, run the pump daily for a duration appropriate for your pool size and usage. The auto timer helps automate this process.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient operation of your filter pump.
- Filter Cartridge Replacement: The Type B filter cartridge (Item #29005E) should be replaced every two weeks under normal usage conditions. Turn off and unplug the pump before opening the filter housing to replace the cartridge.
- Air Release Valve: Periodically check and open the air release valve to ensure no air is trapped inside the filter chamber. Trapped air can reduce pump efficiency.
- Sediment Flush Valve: The pump is equipped with a sediment flush valve. Regularly open this valve to drain accumulated sediment from the bottom of the filter housing.
- Hose and Connection Inspection: Routinely inspect hoses and connections for any signs of wear, cracks, or leaks. Tighten hose clamps as needed.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your filter pump, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump not running | No power; tripped circuit breaker; motor overheating. | Check power connection and outlet. Reset circuit breaker. Allow motor to cool down. |
| Low water flow | Clogged filter cartridge; trapped air in system; kinked hoses; dirty pre-filter basket. | Replace filter cartridge. Open air release valve. Straighten hoses. Clean pre-filter basket. |
| Water not clearing | Insufficient run time; dirty filter; improper chemical balance. | Increase pump run time. Replace filter cartridge. Test and adjust pool chemical levels. |
| Pump making unusual noise | Air in system; debris in impeller; worn bearings. | Release trapped air. Inspect and clear impeller area. If noise persists, contact customer support. |
