1. Unpacking

Carefully remove the clock from its packaging. Inspect for any damage. Keep the packaging for future transport or storage.

3. Pendulum Attachment

Gently hook the pendulum onto its designated hanger inside the pendulum viewing area. The pendulum is for aesthetic purposes only and does not affect timekeeping accuracy.

4. Mounting the Clock

The clock features a metal eye loop hanger at the top rear. Ensure the screw or nail used for mounting is long enough to account for the setback of the hanger (approximately one inch from the back of the clock) and securely supports the clock's weight. For best pendulum swing, ensure the clock is hung vertically.

5. Setting the Time

The time setting dial is located on the back of the clock. Due to its small size, precise setting can be achieved by gently pulling the battery out slightly when the desired hour is reached on another clock, then pushing it back in quickly to synchronize.

Operation

Chime Settings

Your clock offers dual chime options (Westminster and Whittington), adjustable volume, and an automatic nighttime silencer. All chime controls are located on the back of the clock.

  • Chime Selection: Choose between Westminster and Whittington melodies.
  • Volume Control: Adjust the chime loudness to your preference. A lower volume setting may extend battery life.
  • Nighttime Silencer: This feature automatically silences the chimes between 11:00 PM and 5:45 AM.
  • Quarter-Hour Chimes: The clock will chime every 15 minutes. This feature cannot be independently turned off.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The included 'C' battery is designed to power the clock for up to one year. Replace the battery annually or when the clock stops keeping accurate time or the chimes become weak or stop functioning.

Cleaning

Wipe the clock's wooden case and glass with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.

Troubleshooting

  • Clock Not Keeping Time: Ensure the 'C' battery is correctly installed and has sufficient power. Replace if necessary. Verify the pendulum is swinging freely.
  • Chimes Out of Sync: If the chimes do not correspond to the time displayed, reset the time by following the instructions in the "Setting the Time" section.
  • No Chime or Weak Chime: Check the chime volume control on the back of the clock. Ensure the battery has enough power. Confirm the nighttime silencer is not active if chimes are expected.
  • Mounting Issues: If the clock does not hang securely, ensure the mounting hardware is appropriate for the clock's weight and the wall material.
