3. Slide the end covers away from the flanges to expose the mounting plates.
4. Using a pencil, mark the center hole of each mounting plate on the wall.

5.3. Drilling Holes and Installing Anchors (for Hollow Walls)

If installing into a hollow wall (not directly into a stud), follow these steps using SecureMount anchors (sold separately):

1. Using a drill with a 1-1/4" hole saw, carefully drill a hole at each marked center point.
2. Insert a plastic guide sleeve into each hole until it is flush with the wall. Ensure the 'UP' indicator on the sleeve is pointing upwards.
3. Snap a pull tab onto each anchor.
4. Insert an anchor into each plastic guide sleeve and pull the tab towards you until it feels snug against the inside wall.
5. Remove the pull tab from each anchor by lifting it up and pulling it towards you.
6. Position a mounting plate over each plastic guide sleeve. The arrows on each mounting plate should point towards each other.
7. Secure the mounting plate in place with a bolt and two washers, tightening with a Phillips screwdriver.

5.4. Attaching the Grab Bar

1. Position the grab bar flanges over the installed mounting plates.
2. Secure the grab bar in place by inserting and tightening the three bolts and washers into each flange using a Phillips screwdriver.
3. Remove any protective covers from the hubs.
4. Slide the end covers back over each flange until they snap into place, concealing the mounting hardware.
