5.3. Storage
The Rack and Roll trailer is designed for compact storage. It can be quickly disassembled and stored vertically against a wall. Follow the reverse of the assembly instructions for disassembly. The integrated carrying handle on the tongue facilitates moving the trailer when unhitched.
6. Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and fasteners for tightness. Inspect the tires for proper inflation and wear. Examine the wiring harness and lights for any damage.
- Cleaning: Clean the trailer regularly, especially after exposure to salt water or road salt, to prevent corrosion.
- Rust Prevention: While the trailer is constructed from aluminum, some components (e.g., bolts, nuts, hitch mechanism) are metal and can rust. Consider applying rust-inhibiting sprays or replacing standard fasteners with stainless steel alternatives for prolonged exposure to harsh conditions.
- Shock Absorbers: Inspect shock absorbers for leaks or damage.
7. Troubleshooting
- Trailer Lights Not Working:
- Check the vehicle's electrical connection to the trailer harness.
- Inspect the trailer's wiring harness for cuts, pinches, or loose connections.
- Verify that the vehicle's fuses for trailer lights are intact.
- Excessive Sway or Instability During Towing:
- Ensure cargo is properly distributed, with adequate tongue weight (approx. 60% of load).
- Check tire pressure on both the trailer and towing vehicle.
- Verify the hitch connection is secure.
- Missing or Damaged Parts: If you discover any missing or damaged components upon unboxing or during assembly, contact Yakima customer service immediately for assistance.
