2. Safety Information
Caution: This is a heavy item. Exercise care during handling and placement to prevent injury. Keep fingers clear of drawer mechanisms and sharp edges during operation.
- Ensure the cabinet is placed on a level, stable surface to prevent tipping.
- Do not open more than one drawer at a time. Opening multiple drawers simultaneously can cause the cabinet to become unstable and tip over.
- Distribute contents evenly among drawers to maintain balance. Avoid overloading individual drawers.
- Keep children and pets away from the cabinet, especially when drawers are open.
- Use the provided lock to secure sensitive documents and prevent unauthorized access.
3. Setup
The HON 510 Series 4-Drawer Letter File Cabinet is shipped fully assembled and does not require additional assembly. Follow these steps for initial setup:
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials. Inspect the cabinet for any shipping damage. Report any damage to your supplier immediately.
- Placement: Position the cabinet on a firm, level floor surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the cabinet for drawers to open fully without obstruction.
- Leveling (if necessary): If the cabinet is not stable, adjust the leveling glides located at the bottom corners of the cabinet. Turn clockwise to raise and counter-clockwise to lower until the cabinet is stable and does not wobble.
- Key Management: The cabinet comes with a key for the integrated lock. Store spare keys in a secure location separate from the cabinet.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Opening and Closing Drawers
The drawers feature full-suspension ball-bearing slides for smooth and quiet operation.
- To Open: Grasp the handle firmly and pull the drawer straight out. The full-suspension system allows the drawer to extend completely for easy access to contents.
- To Close: Push the drawer firmly until it is fully seated and the thumb latch engages, holding the drawer securely shut.
4.2. Using the Lock
The cabinet is equipped with a single key lock that secures all four drawers simultaneously.
- To Lock: Ensure all drawers are fully closed. Insert the key into the lock cylinder located on the top drawer. Turn the key clockwise until it stops (typically a quarter turn). Remove the key. All drawers are now locked.
- To Unlock: Insert the key into the lock cylinder. Turn the key counter-clockwise until it stops. Remove the key. All drawers are now unlocked and can be opened.

4.3. Using Label Holders
Each drawer front includes a label holder for easy identification of contents. Simply slide your printed or written labels into the designated slots.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your file cabinet.
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. For stubborn marks, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by wiping with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish.
- Drawer Slides: The ball-bearing slides are designed for maintenance-free operation. If drawers become stiff, ensure they are not overloaded or obstructed. Do not apply oil or grease to the slides, as this can attract dust and debris.
- Lock Care: Keep the lock cylinder free of dust and debris. If the key becomes difficult to turn, a small amount of graphite lubricant (not oil) can be applied to the key and inserted into the lock.
- Replaceable Locks: The cabinet features One Key core-removable locks. If a lock needs to be changed for security reasons, contact HON customer support for assistance with replacement cores.
