Setup Instructions

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify that all components listed in the product manual are present.
  2. Choose Location: Select a suitable location for the filter. The heavy-duty, weather-resistant ABS plastic housing allows for installation in or near the pond, or it can be partially buried for a less conspicuous setup. Ensure the location provides easy access for maintenance and is close enough to a power source for the UV clarifier (if applicable).
  3. Connect Hoses: Attach the inlet and outlet hoses (3/4" inside diameter, sold separately) to the detachable hose assembly module. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks. The detachable module facilitates quick disconnection for maintenance.
  4. Position Filter: Place the filter in its chosen location. If burying, ensure the top of the filter is accessible for maintenance.
  5. Install Pump: Connect a compatible pond pump (maximum 1200 GPH recommended for optimal performance with this filter) to the inlet hose. For best results, use a Pondmaster Magnetic Drive Pump.
  6. Connect UV Clarifier (if applicable): If your model includes a UV clarifier (e.g., Item 05435), ensure it is properly connected according to its specific instructions. The UV power cord length is 13 feet.
  7. Initial Water Flow: Before plugging in the pump, ensure the filter is filled with water. This prevents airlocks and ensures proper operation.
  8. Power Connection: Plug in the pump and UV clarifier (if applicable) to a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure all electrical products are UL, ETL, or CSA approved.

Operating Instructions

Once the Danner Pondmaster CPF 1000 Pressurized Pond Filter is properly installed and connected, operation is straightforward. The filter continuously processes pond water to remove debris and clarify water.

  • Continuous Operation: For optimal water quality, allow the filter and pump system to run continuously.
  • Monitoring Water Clarity: Regularly observe your pond water for clarity. The filter's performance will be evident in reduced green water and suspended particles.
  • Pressure Gauge (if equipped): Some pressurized filters include a pressure gauge. Monitor this gauge; an increase in pressure indicates that the filter media may require cleaning.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your Pondmaster CPF 1000 filter.

  1. Filter Pad Cleaning: The reusable foam filter pad should be cleaned periodically. The frequency depends on pond size, fish load, and debris levels.
    • Disconnect power to the pump and UV clarifier.
    • Utilize the detachable hose assembly module for quick and easy disconnection of hoses.
    • Open the filter housing and remove the foam filter pad.
    • Rinse the foam filter pad thoroughly with pond water (not chlorinated tap water, as this can kill beneficial bacteria) until clean.
    • Reinsert the clean foam filter pad and secure the filter housing.
    • Reconnect hoses and restore power.
  2. UV Lamp Replacement (if applicable): If your filter includes a UV clarifier, the UV lamp will need replacement annually to maintain effectiveness. Refer to the specific UV clarifier manual for detailed replacement instructions.
  3. Housing Inspection: Periodically inspect the filter housing for any signs of damage or wear. Ensure all seals are intact to prevent leaks.
