1. Introduction

4. Setup and Installation

The Liberty Garden 704 hose reel is designed for wall mounting. It can be mounted to wood or brick walls. Ensure the mounting surface is strong enough to support the reel and a full hose (up to 125 feet of 5/8-inch hose).

• Drill
• Appropriate drill bits for your mounting surface (e.g., masonry bit for brick)
• Mounting hardware (screws, anchors suitable for your wall type)
• Adjustable wrench or appropriate size wrench for hose connections
• Pliers (optional, for securing leader hose clamp)

4.2 Installation Steps:

1. Select Mounting Location: Choose a sturdy wall or post near your water source. The reel dimensions are approximately 15 x 22.75 x 15.38 inches (L x W x H). The mounting hole area is 16 x 13.5 inches with 4 mounting holes (3/8 inch diameter).
2. Mark Drill Holes: Hold the hose reel against the desired mounting surface and mark the four mounting hole locations. Ensure the reel is level.
3. Drill Pilot Holes: Using the appropriate drill bit, drill pilot holes at the marked locations.
4. Secure Reel: Attach the hose reel to the wall using suitable mounting hardware (not included). Ensure it is firmly secured.

5. Connect Leader Hose: Attach the included 5-foot leader hose to your water spigot and to the inlet connection on the hose reel. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.
6. Attach Garden Hose: Connect your garden hose (not included) to the outlet connection on the reel.
7. Wind Hose: Manually wind your garden hose onto the reel. For optimal performance, guide the hose evenly across the reel as you crank the handle.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Unwinding the Hose:

• Ensure the water supply is turned on at the spigot.
• Grasp the end of your garden hose and pull it away from the reel. The reel will unwind smoothly as you pull.
• Extend the hose to the desired length for watering or other tasks.

5.2 Rewinding the Hose:

• After use, turn off the water supply at the spigot and drain any remaining water from the hose.
• Begin cranking the handle on the side of the reel.
• Guide the hose evenly across the reel as it winds to prevent tangles and ensure proper storage.

6. Maintenance

• Regular Cleaning: Wipe down the hose reel periodically with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the powder coat finish.
• Lubrication: If the reel mechanism becomes stiff, apply a small amount of silicone spray or a similar lubricant to the moving parts, especially the internal swivel joint, as suggested by some users.
• Winterization: Before the first freeze, disconnect the hose reel from the water supply. Drain all water from the leader hose and the reel itself. Store the reel indoors or in a protected area if possible, or ensure it is completely dry to prevent damage from freezing water.
