1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Astralpool Micro RX Automatic Chlorine Regulator. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure safe and efficient operation.
The Astralpool Micro RX is an electromagnetic regulator designed for automatic control and regulation of chlorine (Redox) levels in swimming pools. It precisely monitors the water's Redox potential and injects chemical products as needed using a peristaltic pump. This system ensures optimal water quality, reduces manual maintenance, and enhances pool safety.
2. Safety Information
Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury and damage to the device:
- Ensure the power supply is disconnected before any installation, maintenance, or repair work.
- Installation and electrical connections must be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with local regulations.
- Handle pool chemicals with extreme care. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, eye protection).
- Do not operate the device if it is damaged or if any electrical cables are frayed.
- Keep the device out of reach of children and unauthorized personnel.
- Ensure proper ventilation when working with pool chemicals.
3. Product Overview
The Astralpool Micro RX unit is designed for precise and automated pool water treatment. Its compact design integrates a peristaltic dosing pump and an intuitive control panel.

Figure 1: Astralpool Micro RX Automatic Chlorine Regulator. This image displays the Astralpool Micro RX unit. On the left side, a transparent cover reveals the peristaltic pump mechanism, which is responsible for dosing chemical products. The right side features the control panel with a red LED display showing '640', and buttons labeled 'CAL' and 'SET' for calibration and settings. The unit is blue and has 'Micro Rx' and 'ASTRALPOOL' branding.

4. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the correct functioning of the Micro RX regulator. Follow these steps carefully:
- Mounting the Unit: Use the provided wall mounting kit to securely attach the Micro RX unit to a vertical surface near your pool's filtration system. Ensure it is protected from direct sunlight and excessive moisture.
- Installing the Probe: Install the Rx probe into the probe holder. The probe holder should be installed in the pool's circulation line, typically after the filter and heater, but before any chemical injection points. Ensure the probe is always submerged in water when the system is running.
- Connecting Tubes:
- Connect the suction tube from the chemical container (e.g., liquid chlorine) to the suction strainer, then to the inlet of the peristaltic pump.
- Connect the discharge tube from the pump outlet to the injection valve. The injection valve should be installed into the pool's return line using the provided support collars.
- Electrical Connection: Connect the Micro RX unit to a 230V power supply. Ensure the connection is secure and protected from water.
- Initial Calibration: Before first use, the Rx probe must be calibrated using the provided calibration solutions. Refer to the "Operating" section for detailed calibration instructions.
5. Operating Instructions
The Micro RX regulator is designed for user-friendly operation. Follow these steps to set up and maintain your desired chlorine (Redox) levels.
5.1 Power On and Display
Once connected to power, the LED display will illuminate, showing the current Redox potential in mV. The unit will automatically begin monitoring the water.
5.2 Calibration
Regular calibration of the Rx probe is essential for accurate readings and effective regulation. Perform calibration:
- Press the CAL button. The display will enter calibration mode.
- Follow the on-screen prompts (if any, or refer to specific model instructions for calibration solution values).
- Immerse the probe in the first calibration solution. Wait for the reading to stabilize, then confirm.
- Rinse the probe with distilled water.
- Immerse the probe in the second calibration solution. Wait for the reading to stabilize, then confirm.
- The unit will save the calibration settings and return to normal operation.
5.3 Setting the Setpoint
The setpoint is the desired Redox value you want to maintain in your pool water.
- Press the SET button. The display will show the current setpoint value.
- Use the CAL and SET buttons (or dedicated up/down buttons if available) to adjust the setpoint to your desired value (e.g., 650-750 mV for typical chlorine levels).
- Press SET again to confirm and save the new setpoint.
The Micro RX will now automatically inject chlorine when the measured Redox level falls below the setpoint, and stop when the setpoint is reached or exceeded.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your Astralpool Micro RX regulator.
- Probe Cleaning: Periodically clean the Rx probe to remove any deposits that may affect its accuracy. Use a soft brush and a mild cleaning solution specifically designed for probes, or distilled water.
- Probe Calibration: Recalibrate the probe regularly (e.g., monthly or as recommended by pool professionals) to ensure precise readings.
- Electrode Wear Monitoring: The unit features an electrode wear monitoring function. If an alert is displayed, inspect or replace the Rx probe as necessary.
- Peristaltic Tube Inspection: Inspect the peristaltic pump tubes for signs of wear, cracks, or blockages. Replace them if necessary to maintain proper dosing.
- Chemical Levels: Ensure the chemical container connected to the suction tube always has sufficient product. The unit has a safety feature for empty dosing.
- General Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the unit clean and free from dust and chemical spills.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Micro RX regulator.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unit not powering on | No power supply; faulty connection. | Check power cable and outlet. Ensure 230V supply. |
| Inaccurate Redox readings | Dirty or uncalibrated probe; worn-out probe. | Clean and recalibrate the Rx probe. If issue persists, replace the probe. |
| No chemical injection | Empty chemical container; clogged suction/discharge tubes; pump malfunction. | Refill chemical container. Check tubes for blockages. Inspect peristaltic pump for wear. |
| Overdosing of chemicals | Incorrect setpoint; faulty probe; pump running continuously. | Verify setpoint. Recalibrate or replace probe. Check for pump control issues. |
| Electrode wear alert | Rx probe is nearing end of life or is damaged. | Inspect the Rx probe. Replace if visibly worn or if calibration fails repeatedly. |
