Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the clock. This may be behind a removable panel or a slide-out piece of wood inside the clock, accessible by opening the glass door.
- Insert one (1) C battery, ensuring the polarity (+/-) matches the indicators inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment securely.

2. Pendulum Installation
- Carefully open the front glass door of the clock.
- Remove any protective packaging or rubber bands securing the pendulum mechanism for shipping. Failure to remove these can cause damage.
- Hang the metal pendulum onto the pendulum hook located inside the clock. Ensure it swings freely.
- Gently close the glass door.

3. Mounting the Clock
This clock is designed for wall mounting. Use a sturdy screw or hook appropriate for the clock's weight (approximately 9 pounds) and the wall material. The clock features a built-in mounting bracket on the back.
- Select a suitable location on a wall.
- Install a wall anchor and screw, leaving a small portion of the screw head exposed.
- Carefully hang the clock onto the screw using the mounting bracket. Ensure it is level and secure.
Operating Instructions
1. Setting the Time
- Gently turn the minute hand clockwise to set the correct time. Do not turn the hour hand directly.
- Allow the clock to chime at each hour or quarter hour as you advance the time.
2. Chime Settings
Your Seiko QXH039BLH clock offers dual chimes (Westminster and Whittington), volume control, and an automatic nighttime silencer.
- Chime Selection: A switch or dial on the clock's movement (often accessible from the back or by opening the front door) allows you to select between Westminster and Whittington chimes. Refer to the markings near the control for specific options.

- Quarter Hour Chimes: This model chimes on the quarter hour, with hourly strikes following the hourly chime. Please note that there is no option to disable the quarter-hour chimes independently while keeping the hourly chimes active.

1. Cleaning
To clean the clock, wipe the wooden case with a soft, dry cloth. For the glass, use a glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth, not directly onto the clock, to avoid liquid seeping into the mechanism.
2. Battery Replacement
Replace the C battery annually or when the clock's timekeeping becomes inaccurate, the chimes weaken, or the pendulum stops swinging. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the Setup section.
