Advanced Features

Optical Image Stabilizer (IS)

Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer technology automatically detects and corrects camera shake, reducing blur in photos, especially in low light or when using the zoom. This feature operates automatically to provide clearer images.

Face Detection Technology

The DIGIC 4 image processor includes advanced Face Detection Technology, which identifies and tracks faces in the frame, ensuring they are in focus and properly exposed with natural skin tones. This also includes a Face Detection Self-Timer, which waits for an additional face to enter the frame before taking a picture.

i-Contrast (Intelligent Contrast Correction)

i-Contrast adjusts the compensation level in pixel units to brighten dark areas of an image while preserving bright areas. This results in improved detail in shadows and more natural transitions. It can be applied during shooting or in playback mode.

Red-eye Correction

The camera offers three methods for red-eye correction:

ISO Settings

The PowerShot SD780IS features an ISO 1600 setting to reduce camera shake and improve image clarity in low-light conditions. For extremely dark environments, the ISO can be expanded to 3200 when using the ISO 3200 Special Scene mode.
