1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Smart-AVI DVS-400S DVI Video Splitter. This device is designed to distribute a single DVI video source to multiple DVI displays, maintaining high-quality video signals over extended distances. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and operation to ensure proper use and to prevent damage to the unit.

2. Safety Information

Please observe the following safety precautions to prevent damage to the unit and to ensure your safety:

  • Do not expose this unit to water, moisture, or excessive humidity.
  • Do not place the unit on an unstable surface.
  • Use only the power adapter supplied with the unit.
  • Do not block ventilation openings.
  • Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
  • Disconnect power before cleaning. Clean with a dry cloth only.

4. Product Overview

The DVS-400S is a compact DVI video splitter designed for reliable performance. It features one DVI input and four DVI outputs, allowing a single DVI source to be displayed on up to four DVI monitors simultaneously.

5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your DVS-400S DVI Video Splitter:

  1. Power Off Devices: Ensure all DVI source devices (e.g., computer, DVD player) and DVI display devices (e.g., monitors, projectors) are powered off before making any connections.
  2. Connect Source: Connect a DVI cable from your DVI source device to the DVI IN port on the DVS-400S unit.
  3. Connect Displays: Connect DVI cables from the DVI OUT ports (1-4) on the DVS-400S unit to your DVI display devices.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the supplied power adapter into the DC 5V power jack on the DVS-400S unit, then plug the adapter into a standard AC power outlet.
  5. Power On: Power on the DVS-400S unit. The power indicator LED should illuminate. Then, power on your DVI display devices, followed by your DVI source device.
  6. Verify Display: Confirm that the video signal from your source is now displayed on all connected monitors.

Note: For optimal performance, use high-quality DVI cables. The maximum supported resolution is 1920x1200 (WUXGA).

6. Operating Instructions

The DVS-400S is a plug-and-play device and requires no additional software or drivers. Once connected as described in the Setup section, it will automatically split and distribute the DVI signal.

  • Signal Distribution: The unit will replicate the input DVI signal to all four output ports simultaneously.
  • Resolution Support: Supports DVI resolutions up to 1920x1200 (WUXGA) and 1280x1024 (SXGA).
  • Cable Length: The effective cable length depends on the resolution and cable quality. Refer to DVI specifications for maximum recommended lengths.

7. Maintenance

The DVS-400S requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure longevity:

  • Cleaning: Disconnect power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the unit. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the unit has adequate ventilation. Do not block any ventilation openings.
  • Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, disconnect all cables and store it in a cool, dry place.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DVS-400S, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:
