2. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1 Power Supply

The Beurer IH 50 can be powered by batteries or the included mains adapter.

  1. Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the main unit. Insert 4 x 1.5V AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the cover securely.
  2. Mains Adapter Connection: Insert the small plug of the mains adapter into the power socket on the side of the nebulizer. Plug the mains adapter into a suitable electrical outlet.

4.2 Assembling the Nebulizer

  1. Ensure the medication container is clean and dry.
  2. Attach the medication container to the main unit by aligning the tabs and twisting gently until it clicks into place.
  3. Select the appropriate accessory (mouthpiece, adult mask, or children's mask) and attach it firmly to the top of the medication container.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Filling Medication

  1. Open the lid of the medication container.
  2. Carefully pour the prescribed liquid medication into the container. Do not overfill; observe the maximum fill line.
  3. Close the lid of the medication container securely.

5.2 Performing Inhalation

  1. Ensure the device is fully assembled and powered.
  2. Press the power button to switch on the device. The indicator light will illuminate.
  3. If using the mouthpiece, place it between your teeth and close your lips around it. If using a mask, place it firmly over your nose and mouth.
  4. Breathe calmly and deeply through the mouthpiece or mask. The device will produce a fine mist for inhalation.
  5. The device features an automatic switch-off function once the medication is depleted or after a certain period of inactivity.
  6. After inhalation, press the power button to switch off the device if it has not already turned off automatically.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Proper cleaning and disinfection are crucial for hygiene and the longevity of your nebulizer.

6.1 After Each Use

  1. Switch off the device and disconnect it from the power source (if using mains adapter).
  2. Disassemble the medication container, mouthpiece, and mask from the main unit.
  3. Rinse all disassembled parts (except the main unit) under warm running water.
  4. Clean the parts with a mild detergent, if necessary.
  5. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all detergent residue.
  6. Shake off excess water and allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembly or storage.

6.2 Disinfection

The medication container, mouthpiece, and masks can be disinfected. Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for recommended disinfection methods for nebulizer accessories, such as boiling or using a cold disinfection solution. Ensure all parts are completely dry after disinfection.

6.3 Storage

Store the clean and dry nebulizer and its accessories in the provided storage box in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting
