- VPS Sun Visor: Internal, retractable sun protection visor.

3. Setup and Initial Use
3.1 Adjusting the Microlock Chin Strap
- Place the helmet on your head, ensuring a snug fit without excessive pressure points.
- Insert the toothed strap into the Microlock buckle until it clicks securely.
- Pull the strap to ensure it is tight enough to prevent the helmet from moving freely, but not so tight as to cause discomfort.
- To release, lift the red lever on the buckle and pull the strap out.
3.2 Attaching/Removing the Chin Guard
The N43 features a removable chin guard for conversion between full-face and jet configurations. Refer to the markings on the helmet for proper alignment. Engage the attachment points on both sides of the helmet until they click securely into place. To remove, press the release buttons (if present) and gently pull the chin guard away from the helmet.
3.3 N-Com Communication System Preparation
Your N43 helmet is pre-configured for the installation of a Nolan N-Com communication system. Follow the specific instructions provided with your N-Com kit for installation. Ensure all cables are routed correctly and do not interfere with helmet components or your comfort.
4. Operating the Helmet Features
4.1 Main Visor Operation
The main visor can be opened and closed using the tab located on its lower edge. It features multiple detent positions to allow for partial opening. Ensure the visor is fully closed for maximum protection while riding. The visor is anti-scratch and offers UV 400 protection.
4.2 VPS Sun Visor Operation
The internal VPS (Vision Protection System) sun visor is operated by a slider mechanism, typically located on the left side of the helmet. Slide it down to deploy the sun visor for glare reduction and slide it up to retract it when not needed. Do not use the VPS sun visor in low light conditions or at night.
4.3 Ventilation System
The N43 Air is equipped with an advanced ventilation system featuring five adjustable air intakes: one at the front, two at the rear, and two on the top of the shell. Adjust the sliders or levers on each vent to control the airflow. Opening the vents allows fresh air to circulate, while closing them can reduce cold air entry in cooler conditions.
5. Maintenance and Care
5.1 Cleaning the Outer Shell
Clean the helmet's outer shell with a soft cloth, warm water, and mild soap. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the helmet's finish and materials. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft, clean cloth.
5.2 Cleaning the Inner Lining
The Clima Comfort inner lining is fully removable and washable. Carefully detach the lining components from the helmet. Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Allow the lining to air dry completely before re-installing it into the helmet. Ensure all components are correctly re-attached.
5.3 Visor Care
Clean the main visor and VPS sun visor with warm water and a soft cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a specialized helmet visor cleaner. Avoid scratching the visor surfaces. Do not use abrasive materials or chemical cleaners. Replace visors if they become scratched or damaged, as visibility can be compromised.
5.4 Storage
Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use a helmet bag to protect it from dust and scratches. Do not store the helmet near heat sources or chemicals.
6. Troubleshooting
- Visor Fogging: Ensure the ventilation system is open. Consider using an anti-fog treatment or a Pinlock insert (if compatible and available).
- Chin Strap Loosening: Re-adjust the Microlock system. If the strap continues to loosen, inspect the mechanism for wear or damage.
- Unusual Noise/Whistling: Check that all vents are properly closed or adjusted. Ensure the main visor and chin guard are securely fastened.
- Difficulty Operating Components: Ensure no dirt or debris is obstructing moving parts. Clean and lubricate (if recommended by Nolan) mechanisms as needed.
