3. Setup
3.1 Powering the Radio
The G8 Digital Radio can be powered by batteries or an optional AC adapter.
Battery Installation:
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
- Slide or lift the cover to open the compartment.
- Insert three (3) AA-size batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
AC Adapter (Optional):
To power the radio using an AC adapter, connect a compatible 6V DC adapter (not included) to the DC jack on the side of the radio.
3.2 Initial Power On:
Press the POWER button located on the top right of the radio to turn it on. The digital display will illuminate.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Tuning and Band Selection:
- Band Selection: Use the AM/LW, FM, and SW buttons (located above the speaker) to switch between frequency bands.
- Manual Tuning: Rotate the TUNING knob (located on the right side of the radio) to manually adjust the frequency. The digital display will show the current frequency.
- Auto Tuning Storage (ATS): Press and hold the ATS button to automatically scan and store available stations within the selected band.
- Digital Frequency Readout: The large digital display provides precise frequency information.
4.2 Volume Control:
Adjust the volume using the VOLUME knob located on the right side of the radio, below the tuning knob.
4.3 Snooze/Light Function:
Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button (top left) to illuminate the display backlight for a few seconds. If an alarm is set, pressing this button will activate the snooze function.
4.4 Key Lock Function:
To prevent accidental button presses, activate the key lock by pressing and holding the KEY LOCK button (often indicated by a key icon). Repeat the action to unlock.
4.5 Earphone Usage:
Connect standard 3.5mm earphones to the EARPHONE jack for private listening. The internal speaker will automatically mute when earphones are connected.
4.6 World Time Dial:
The radio features an integrated world time dial. Open the cover on the right side of the radio to reveal the dial. Rotate the dial to align your current location with the time indicator to quickly reference time zones around the world.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning:
Wipe the radio's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong chemicals, as these may damage the finish.
5.2 Battery Replacement:
Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display or when audio quality degrades. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 3.1.
5.3 Storage:
Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent corrosion.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Eton Grundig G8 Digital Radio, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Power:
- Check if batteries are inserted correctly and are not depleted.
- If using an AC adapter, ensure it is properly connected and the power outlet is functional.
- Poor Reception/Static:
