Product Overview

The Kärcher SE 4002 is a spray extraction cleaner designed for deep cleaning of textile surfaces such as carpets, upholstery, and car seats, as well as hard floors. It can also be used as a wet/dry vacuum cleaner.

Setup and Assembly

1. Unpacking: Remove all components from the packaging. Check for any damage.
2. Attaching Wheels: Insert the castor wheels into the designated openings on the base of the appliance until they click into place.
3. Connecting Suction Hose: Connect the suction hose to the suction connection on the appliance. Ensure a secure fit.
4. Connecting Spray Hose: Connect the spray hose to the spray connection on the appliance.
5. Assembling Extension Tubes: Connect the two extension tubes together. Then attach the desired nozzle (floor or upholstery) to the end of the extension tubes.
6. Connecting to Handle: Attach the assembled extension tubes and nozzle to the handle of the suction hose.

Operating Instructions

1. Wet Cleaning (Spray Extraction)

1. Preparation:
   • Remove the fresh water tank from the appliance.
   • Fill the fresh water tank with clean water and Kärcher carpet cleaner (if applicable) according to the detergent manufacturer's instructions. Do not exceed the MAX mark.
   • Reinsert the fresh water tank into the appliance.
2. Connecting Power: Plug the appliance into a suitable power outlet (220-240V, 50/60Hz).
3. Starting Operation:
   • Switch on the spray pump (I) and the vacuum turbine (II) using the respective switches on the appliance.
   • Press the lever on the handle to spray the cleaning solution onto the surface.
   • Move the nozzle slowly over the surface, spraying and simultaneously vacuuming the solution. Overlap passes slightly.
   • For heavily soiled areas, allow the solution to soak for a few minutes before vacuuming.
   • Repeat the process with clean water to rinse the surface if necessary.
4. Upholstery Cleaning Example:

   For cleaning car seats or other upholstered furniture, attach the upholstery nozzle. Follow the same steps as for general wet cleaning, ensuring not to oversaturate the fabric. Work in small sections.

5. Finishing: Once cleaning is complete, switch off both the spray pump and vacuum turbine. Disconnect from power.

2. Dry Vacuuming

For dry vacuuming, ensure the fresh water tank is empty and the dirty water tank is clean. A filter bag must be inserted into the dirty water tank for dry vacuuming. The foam filter should also be in place.

1. Preparation:
   • Ensure the filter bag is correctly installed in the dirty water tank.
   • Attach the appropriate dry vacuuming nozzle (e.g., crevice tool, brush nozzle) to the extension tubes.
2. Connecting Power: Plug the appliance into a suitable power outlet.
3. Starting Operation: Switch on only the vacuum turbine (II). Do not switch on the spray pump.
4. Vacuuming: Move the nozzle over the dry surface to vacuum dust and debris.
5. Finishing: Switch off the vacuum turbine and disconnect from power.

Maintenance and Care

• Emptying Tanks: After each wet cleaning use, empty and rinse both the fresh water and dirty water tanks thoroughly.
• Cleaning Filters:
  • Foam Filter: Remove and rinse the foam filter under running water after wet vacuuming. Allow it to dry completely before reinserting.
  • Filter Bag: Replace the filter bag when it is full during dry vacuuming. Do not attempt to reuse disposable filter bags.
• Cleaning Nozzles and Hoses: Rinse all nozzles and the suction hose with clean water to prevent blockages and odors.
• Storage: Store the appliance in a dry, frost-free location. Ensure all tanks are empty and clean before storage. Wrap the power cord neatly.
