1. Introduction

2. Important Safety Instructions

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, always follow basic safety precautions.

  • Read all instructions before using the appliance.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse the cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.

  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use the appliance for other than intended use.
  • This appliance cooks under pressure. Improper use may result in scalding injury. Make certain unit is properly closed before operating.
  • Do not fill the unit over 2/3 full. When cooking foods that expand during cooking, such as rice or dried vegetables, do not fill the unit over 1/2 full. Overfilling may cause a risk of clogging the vent pipe and developing excess pressure.
  • Be aware that certain foods, such as applesauce, cranberries, pearl barley, oatmeal or other cereals, split peas, noodles, macaroni, rhubarb, or spaghetti can foam, froth, sputter, and clog the pressure release device. These foods should not be cooked in a pressure cooker.
  • Always check the pressure release device for clogging before use.
  • Do not open the pressure cooker until the unit has cooled and internal pressure has been released. If the handles are difficult to push apart, this indicates that the cooker is still pressurized. Do not force it open.

Components:

4. Setup and First Use

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and accessories from the box.
  2. Clean: Wash the inner pot, inner lid, measuring cup, and rice paddle with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Wipe the exterior of the main body with a damp cloth.
  3. Assemble: Place the clean inner pot into the main body. Ensure the inner lid is properly attached to the main lid.
  4. Placement: Place the rice cooker on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded 120V AC outlet. The display will light up.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Rice Cooking (Glutinous/White Rice)

  1. Measure Rice: Use the provided measuring cup to measure the desired amount of rice. Rinse the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.
  2. Add Water: Place the rinsed rice into the inner pot. Add water up to the corresponding water level mark for "Glutinous" or "Normal" rice, matching the number of cups of rice used. For example, if cooking 3 cups of rice, fill water to the '3' mark.
  3. Close Lid: Close the lid securely until it locks into place. Ensure the pressure weight is set correctly (usually to 'Seal' or 'Pressure').
  4. Select Menu: Press the Menu button to cycle through cooking options until "Normal Glutinous" or "Normal" is selected. The Korean voice navigation will announce the selection.
  5. Start Cooking: Press the Pressure button to start the cooking process. The cooker will begin to heat and build pressure.
  6. Completion: Once cooking is complete, the cooker will beep and switch to Keep Warm mode. Allow the pressure to release naturally or manually release it if the recipe requires.
  7. Serve: Open the lid carefully, stir the rice with the rice paddle, and serve.

5.2 Other Cooking Functions

The CRP-FA0610F offers various cooking modes:

  • Mixed: For cooking mixed grain rice.
  • GABA: For preparing sprouted brown rice. Follow specific soaking instructions for GABA rice.
  • Dried: For cooking dried grains or beans.
  • Nu Rung Ji: For making crispy scorched rice at the bottom of the pot.
  • Sweet Pot: For sweet potato or similar dishes.
  • Multi Cook: For various other recipes that require pressure cooking.

To use these functions, select the desired mode using the Menu button and then press Pressure to start. Refer to specific recipes for water ratios and cooking times.

5.3 Timer Function

The Timer function allows you to set a delayed cooking start time.

  1. Prepare rice and water in the inner pot as usual.
  2. Close the lid.
  3. Press the Timer button.
  4. Use the Hrs and Min buttons to set the desired delay time.
  5. Press the Pressure button to confirm. The cooker will start cooking after the set delay time.

5.4 Keep Warm and Reheat

  • The cooker automatically switches to Keep Warm mode after cooking.
  • To Reheat cold rice, press the Reheat button.

Note on Voice Navigation: This model features Korean voice navigation. While the instructions are in English, the audible prompts during operation will be in Korean. Familiarize yourself with the button functions to navigate effectively.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and performance of your rice cooker.

  • Always unplug the appliance before cleaning and allow it to cool completely.
  • Inner Pot: The X-Wall Diamond Coated Inner Pot should be hand washed with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scrubbers, as this can damage the non-stick coating.
  • Inner Lid: Detach the inner lid and wash it with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly before reattaching.
  • Steam Vent: Periodically check the steam vent for any food particles or blockages. Clean with a small brush if necessary.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the main body with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main body in water.
  • Gasket: Inspect the rubber gasket on the inner lid for wear or damage. A worn gasket can affect pressure sealing and cooking performance. Replace if necessary (replacement parts sold separately).

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your rice cooker, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Rice is too hard or undercooked. Insufficient water; lid not properly sealed; incorrect cooking mode selected. Ensure correct water-to-rice ratio. Check lid for proper sealing. Select appropriate cooking mode.
Rice is too soft or mushy. Too much water; rice not rinsed properly. Reduce water slightly next time. Rinse rice thoroughly before cooking.
Steam leaks from the lid. Lid not closed properly; gasket is worn or dirty; foreign objects on the lid. Ensure lid is securely locked. Clean or replace the rubber gasket. Remove any obstructions.
Unusual noise during operation (e.g., 'train noises'). Normal operation sound of pressure building/releasing; internal component noise. Some operational noises, especially during pressure cooking and steam release, are normal. If the noise is excessively loud or accompanied by other malfunctions, contact customer service.
Display shows an error code. Internal malfunction. Unplug the unit, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in. If the error persists, contact customer service.
