4. Setup Instructions
4.1 Speaker Placement
Proper speaker placement is crucial for optimal 5.1-channel surround sound. Refer to the diagram below for recommended placement:
- Front Left & Right Speakers: Place these speakers on either side of your television, facing the listening area.
- Center Speaker: Position this speaker directly above or below your television, centered with the screen.
- Surround Left & Right Speakers: Place these speakers to the sides or slightly behind your main listening position, facing inwards.
- Subwoofer: The subwoofer can be placed anywhere in the room, typically on the floor near the front speakers. Experiment with placement for the best bass response.
Ensure all speakers are connected to the corresponding outputs on the subwoofer unit. The subwoofer acts as the central hub for speaker connections.
4.2 Connecting the DVD Player to Your TV
The Coby DVD765 offers several options for connecting to your television or display. Choose the best available connection for your equipment.
- Composite Video (RCA): Connect the yellow video cable from the DVD player's "VIDEO OUT" jack to the yellow "VIDEO IN" jack on your TV. Connect the red and white audio cables from the DVD player's "AUDIO OUT" jacks to the corresponding red and white "AUDIO IN" jacks on your TV. This is a standard analog connection.
- Component Video (RCA): For higher quality analog video, connect the red, green, and blue component video cables from the DVD player's "COMPONENT VIDEO OUT" jacks (Y, Pb, Pr) to the corresponding "COMPONENT VIDEO IN" jacks on your TV. You will still need to connect separate red and white audio cables for sound.
- Digital Audio (Optical/Coaxial): For digital audio output to a compatible receiver or amplifier, connect an optical or coaxial digital audio cable from the DVD player's "DIGITAL AUDIO OUT" jack to the corresponding input on your audio receiver. This provides multi-channel audio.
- HDMI: If your TV and the DVD player support HDMI, use an HDMI cable to connect the "HDMI OUT" on the DVD player to an "HDMI IN" on your TV. HDMI transmits both video and audio digitally, offering the highest quality.
After connecting, select the correct input source on your television (e.g., AV1, Component, HDMI1) to view the DVD player's output.
4.3 Power Connection
Once all audio and video connections are made, plug the power cord of the DVD player into a standard AC 100-240V wall outlet. The system is now ready for operation.
