Introduction

Setup
1. Charging the Battery
Before initial use, fully charge the Lithium-Ion Battery (LI-42B) using the provided Battery Charger (LI-41C).
- Insert the battery into the charger.
- Plug the charger into a power outlet.
- The charging indicator light will show the charging status. Refer to the charger's specific instructions for light indications.
2. Inserting the Battery and Memory Card
The camera supports both xD-Picture Card and microSD memory cards (with the MASD-1 adapter).

- Open the battery/memory card compartment cover on the side or bottom of the camera. Ensure the camera is powered off.
- Insert the charged battery with the correct orientation.
- Insert the memory card (xD-Picture Card directly, or a microSD card into the MASD-1 adapter first, then insert the adapter) until it clicks into place.
- Close the compartment cover securely. For waterproof integrity, ensure the cover is fully latched.
Operating the Camera
1. Powering On/Off
Press the POWER button to turn the camera on or off.
2. Basic Photography
- Turn on the camera.
- Frame your shot using the 2.5-inch LCD monitor.
- Press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The focus indicator will illuminate.
- Press the shutter button fully to take the picture.

3. Waterproof Usage
The Stylus 550 WP is waterproof up to 10 feet (3 meters). Ensure all compartment covers are securely closed before submerging the camera. Use the UNDERWATER SNAPSHOT scene mode for optimal results when shooting underwater.
4. Intelligent Auto Mode
This mode automatically detects the scene type (e.g., Portrait, Landscape, Macro, Sports, Night + Portrait) and adjusts camera settings for the best image quality. Select this mode for hassle-free shooting.
5. Face Detection
The camera can detect up to three faces in a frame, automatically optimizing focus and exposure for sharp portraits and group shots.
6. Digital Image Stabilization
This feature helps reduce blur caused by camera shake or moving subjects by using high ISO sensitivity and fast shutter speeds.

8. Video Recording
To record videos, switch to Movie mode. Press the shutter button to start and stop recording. Video resolution options include 640x480 (30, 15 fps) and 320x240 (30, 15 fps).
9. Viewing and Editing Photos/Videos
Press the PLAYBACK button to view your captured images and videos on the 2.5-inch LCD. The camera includes in-camera editing features such as Red-Eye Fix, Shadow Adjustment Edit, resizing, and cropping. The Perfect Fix function allows applying multiple edits simultaneously.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Camera
- Wipe the camera body with a soft, damp cloth.
- For the lens and LCD screen, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution. Avoid abrasive materials.
- After underwater use, rinse the camera with fresh water to remove salt or chlorine, then dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
2. Waterproof Seal Care
Regularly inspect the rubber gaskets and O-rings around the battery/memory card compartment for dirt, sand, or damage. Clean them gently if necessary. Do not use sharp objects to clean the seals. Proper maintenance ensures the camera's waterproof integrity.
3. Storage
Store the camera in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove the battery if the camera will not be used for an extended period.
Troubleshooting
Camera Does Not Power On
- Ensure the battery is fully charged and inserted correctly.
- Check if the battery contacts are clean.
Blurry Images
- Ensure Digital Image Stabilization is active.
- Check lighting conditions; use flash if necessary.
- Clean the camera lens.
- Hold the camera steady when shooting.
Memory Card Error
- Ensure the memory card is inserted correctly.
- Try formatting the memory card (this will erase all data).
- Test with a different compatible memory card.
Water Leakage
- Immediately remove the camera from water.
- Open all compartments and allow the camera to dry completely.
- Inspect all rubber gaskets and O-rings for damage or debris. Replace if necessary.
- Ensure all compartment covers are securely latched before re-submerging.
