Stens 758-195 Chemical Fixed Injector: Instruction Manual

Model: 758-195

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective installation, operation, and maintenance of the Stens 758-195 Chemical Fixed Injector. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product and retain it for future reference. This injector is designed for precise chemical application in pressure washing systems.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection, gloves, and protective clothing, when handling chemicals and operating pressure washing equipment.
  • Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free before operating the system.
  • Do not exceed the maximum pressure rating of any component in your pressure washing system.
  • Always depressurize the system before performing any maintenance or adjustments.
  • Keep children and unauthorized personnel away from the operating area.
  • Refer to the safety data sheets (SDS) for any chemicals being used.

3. Product Overview

The Stens 758-195 is a fixed chemical injector designed for integration into pressure washing systems. It allows for the consistent introduction of chemicals into the water stream at a fixed rate.

4. Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the injector's performance and safety. Ensure the pressure washer is turned off and depressurized before beginning installation.

  1. Identify Connection Points: The injector is typically installed downstream of the pressure washer pump and before the high-pressure hose or reel. It should be placed where it can draw chemical effectively.
  2. Prepare Connections: Apply thread sealant (e.g., PTFE tape) to the male threads of your pressure washer's outlet and the high-pressure hose connection.
  3. Connect Inlet: Thread the 3/8" FPT inlet of the Stens 758-195 injector onto the appropriate male connection of your pressure washer system. Tighten securely with a wrench, but do not overtighten.
  4. Connect Outlet: Thread your 3/8" MPT high-pressure hose or other downstream component onto the outlet of the injector. Tighten securely.
  5. Attach Chemical Suction Tube: Connect the chemical suction tube (not included) to the barb fitting on the injector. Ensure the tube reaches the bottom of your chemical container.
  6. Check for Leaks: Once all connections are made, slowly turn on the water supply and then the pressure washer. Carefully inspect all connections for any leaks. Tighten as necessary.

5. Operation

The Stens 758-195 is a fixed injector, meaning its chemical draw rate is determined by its orifice size and the flow rate of your pressure washer. To draw chemicals, a low-pressure nozzle must be used on your pressure washer wand.

  1. Prepare Chemical: Ensure your chemical container is filled with the desired solution and the suction tube is submerged.
  2. Select Low-Pressure Nozzle: Attach a low-pressure (black or soap) nozzle to your pressure washer wand. This creates the necessary pressure drop for the injector to function.
  3. Start Pressure Washer: Turn on your pressure washer.
  4. Engage Trigger: Squeeze the trigger on your pressure washer wand. The injector should begin to draw chemical from the container.
  5. Verify Chemical Draw: Observe the suction tube for chemical movement. If no chemical is being drawn, refer to the Troubleshooting section.
  6. Switch to High-Pressure (Rinse): To stop chemical application and rinse, switch to a high-pressure nozzle (e.g., 0°, 15°, 25°, 40°). The injector will cease drawing chemical.

Note: The chemical draw rate is fixed. To adjust the concentration, you must dilute the chemical in the container or use a different injector with an adjustable or different fixed rate.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your chemical injector.

  • Rinse After Use: After each use, run clean water through the injector to flush out any remaining chemicals. This prevents chemical buildup and corrosion.
  • Inspect Connections: Periodically check all threaded connections for tightness and signs of wear or leaks.
  • Check Orifice: If chemical draw is inconsistent or absent, the internal orifice may be clogged. Disassemble the injector (if applicable and safe to do so, following manufacturer guidelines) and carefully clean the orifice with a small wire or needle.
  • Store Properly: Store the injector in a clean, dry place when not in use.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Stens 758-195 Chemical Fixed Injector, refer to the following table:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No chemical draw
  • High-pressure nozzle in use
  • Clogged orifice
  • Air leak in suction line
  • Suction tube not submerged
  • Injector installed backward
  • Switch to a low-pressure (soap) nozzle.
  • Clean the injector orifice.
  • Check all suction line connections for tightness.
  • Ensure suction tube is fully submerged in chemical.
  • Verify injector is installed with correct flow direction.
Inconsistent chemical draw
  • Partially clogged orifice
  • Fluctuating water pressure/flow
  • Air bubbles in suction line
  • Clean the injector orifice thoroughly.
  • Ensure stable water supply to pressure washer.
  • Check suction line for kinks or loose connections.
Leaks at connections
  • Loose connections
  • Insufficient thread sealant
  • Damaged threads or fittings
  • Tighten connections securely.
  • Reapply thread sealant (PTFE tape) to threads.
  • Inspect fittings for damage; replace if necessary.
