Operating Instructions
Testing the GFCI Adapter
It is crucial to test the GFCI adapter before each use, or at least monthly, to ensure proper functionality:
- With the adapter plugged into an outlet and the red indicator light on (after pressing RESET), press the TEST button.
- The red indicator light should turn off, and power to the adapter's outlet should be interrupted.
- Press the RESET button again. The red indicator light should turn on, restoring power.
- If the adapter does not respond as described during the test, do not use it. Contact customer support for assistance.
Indicator Light
The red indicator light signifies that power is flowing through the adapter. If the light is off, it means either the adapter is not receiving power from the wall outlet, or it has tripped due to a detected ground fault.
Maintenance
- Keep the adapter clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry cloth for cleaning.
- Periodically inspect the adapter for any signs of physical damage, such as cracks in the casing or bent/damaged prongs.
- Note: It is normal for the adapter to feel warm during extended operation. If it becomes excessively hot, unplug it and discontinue use.
Troubleshooting
- No Power / Indicator Light Off:
- Ensure the adapter is fully plugged into a live electrical outlet.
- Press the RESET button. If the light does not turn on, the adapter may be faulty, or the wall outlet has no power. Test the wall outlet with another device.
- Adapter Trips Frequently:
- Frequent tripping indicates a ground fault. Disconnect the appliance plugged into the adapter and inspect it for damage. Do not use a faulty appliance.
- If the adapter trips without an appliance connected, it may be faulty, or the electrical wiring of the outlet has an issue. Consult a qualified electrician.
