3. Product Overview and Components
The EDM HIGH Power Electric Paint Spray Gun is designed for various painting tasks, offering features for efficient application.
Key Features:
- Stroke Adjustment Knob: Controls paint atomization and spray force.
- Fast Action Trigger: Provides instant control over the spray.
- Non-Conductive Housing: Enhances user safety from electrical hazards.
- Heavy Duty Spark-Free Motor: Designed for durability and safe operation.
- Viscosimeter: A simple cup for measuring paint thickness and density to ensure optimal consistency.
Components:

The spray gun consists of the main motor unit with handle and trigger, a detachable paint container, and a power cord. The nozzle and stroke adjustment knob are located on the front and rear of the main unit, respectively.
4. Setup and Preparation
4.1 Paint Preparation
The spray gun is compatible with various paint types, including latex, water-based, and oil-based paints. For optimal performance, some paints may require dilution.
- Measure Viscosity: Use the included viscosimeter cup to measure the paint's thickness. Fill the cup with paint and time how long it takes for the paint to completely drain. Refer to your paint manufacturer's recommendations or the spray gun's specific guidelines for ideal drain times.
- Dilute if Necessary: If the paint is too thick, dilute it gradually with the appropriate thinner (water for water-based paints, mineral spirits for oil-based paints) and re-test the viscosity until the desired consistency is achieved.
- Filter Paint: Strain the prepared paint through a fine mesh filter to remove any lumps or debris that could clog the nozzle.
4.2 Assembly
- Ensure the paint container is clean and dry.
- Pour the prepared paint into the container.
- Carefully attach the paint container to the main spray gun unit, ensuring it is securely fastened to prevent leaks.
- Connect the power cord to a suitable 110V, 50Hz power outlet.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Initial Adjustments
- Stroke Adjustment Knob: Rotate the stroke adjustment knob, located at the rear of the gun, to control the force of the spray and the atomization of the paint. Start with a lower setting and gradually increase until the desired spray pattern is achieved.
- Nozzle Adjustment: The nozzle can be adjusted to change the spray pattern (e.g., horizontal, vertical, or circular). Refer to the markings on the nozzle for guidance.
5.2 Spraying Technique
- Hold the spray gun approximately 6-12 inches from the surface, keeping it perpendicular to the surface.
- Press the fast-action trigger to begin spraying. Release the trigger to stop.
- Move the spray gun in smooth, even passes, overlapping each pass by about one-third to ensure uniform coverage.
- Avoid tilting the gun excessively, especially when the paint level in the container is low, to prevent air from being drawn into the system.
- Practice on a scrap piece of material to familiarize yourself with the spray pattern and adjustments before painting your main project.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper cleaning after each use is crucial for maintaining the performance and longevity of your spray gun.
- Disconnect Power: Always unplug the spray gun from the power outlet before cleaning.
- Empty Paint Container: Remove the paint container and pour any remaining paint back into its original can or a suitable storage container.
- Initial Rinse: Fill the paint container with the appropriate cleaning solution (water for water-based paints, mineral spirits or paint thinner for oil-based paints). Reattach the container to the gun.
- Flush System: Plug in the gun and spray the cleaning solution into a waste container until the liquid runs clear. This flushes paint from the internal components.
- Disassemble and Clean: Disconnect power again. Disassemble the paint container, nozzle, and any other removable parts. Clean all components thoroughly with the appropriate cleaning solution and a brush. Pay special attention to the nozzle and suction tube to remove all paint residue.
- Wipe Down: Wipe the exterior of the spray gun with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the motor unit in water.
- Dry and Store: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling and storing the spray gun in a clean, dry place.
