Care and Cleaning

Regular cleaning helps maintain the performance and longevity of your coffeemaker.

Cleaning the Exterior:

  • Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Never immerse the coffeemaker in water or other liquids.

Cleaning Removable Parts:

  • The Duralife glass carafe and removable filter basket are dishwasher-safe (top rack recommended).
  • Alternatively, wash these parts in warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

Decalcifying (Mineral Deposit Removal):

Mineral deposits (calcium and lime) can build up in your coffeemaker over time, affecting its performance. Decalcify your coffeemaker every 60 brews or monthly, depending on water hardness.

  1. Pour 4 cups of white vinegar into the water reservoir.
  2. Place an empty paper filter in the filter basket.
  3. Place the carafe on the "Keep Hot" plate.
  4. Turn on the coffeemaker and let half of the vinegar solution brew into the carafe.
  5. Turn off the coffeemaker and let it soak for at least 15 minutes.
  6. Turn on the coffeemaker and brew the remaining solution into the carafe.
  7. Discard the vinegar solution and rinse the carafe.
  8. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water and brew through the coffeemaker to rinse. Repeat this step twice.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your coffeemaker, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Coffeemaker does not turn on. Not plugged in; power outage; faulty outlet. Ensure the coffeemaker is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet. Check your circuit breaker.
Coffee is not brewing. No water in reservoir; filter basket not properly seated; coffeemaker needs decalcifying. Fill the water reservoir. Ensure the filter basket is correctly in place. Perform decalcification as described in the "Care and Cleaning" section.
Coffee tastes weak or too strong. Incorrect coffee-to-water ratio; coffee grind too coarse/fine. Adjust the amount of coffee grounds. Use medium grind coffee.
Water leaks from coffeemaker. Overfilled water reservoir; carafe not properly placed. Do not exceed the maximum fill line. Ensure the carafe is centered on the "Keep Hot" plate.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact customer service.
