Safety Information

Please observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the product:

  • This product is not a toy. It contains small parts and is intended for users aged 14 years and older.
  • Always disconnect the power supply before assembling, disassembling, or performing maintenance on the train set.
  • Use only the provided 120V power supply unit. Using an incorrect power supply can damage the model and pose a fire hazard.
  • Do not operate the train set near water or in damp conditions.
  • Keep fingers, hair, and loose clothing away from moving parts of the locomotive and wagons.
  • Ensure the track is laid on a stable, level surface to prevent derailments.

Setup

1. Track Assembly

  1. Choose a clean, dry, and level surface for your track layout.
  2. Carefully connect the track sections to form a complete oval. Ensure each section is firmly seated and the rail joiners are properly aligned.
  3. Connect the track connection cable to one of the track sections. This section will supply power to the entire track.

2. Power Connection

  1. Connect the track connection cable to the speed controller.
  2. Plug the 120V power supply unit into the speed controller.
  3. Plug the power supply unit into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.
  4. Ensure all connections are secure before proceeding.

3. Placing the Train

  1. Carefully place the DB BR80 locomotive onto the track, ensuring all wheels are correctly seated on the rails.
  2. Attach the ore wagons to the locomotive using the provided couplers. Ensure the couplers are securely linked.
  3. Verify that all wheels of the wagons are also correctly seated on the rails.

Operating Instructions

1. Starting the Train

Once the track is assembled and the train is placed, ensure the speed controller is set to the "STOP" or zero position. Slowly turn the speed controller knob clockwise to increase the speed of the locomotive. The locomotive will begin to move forward.

2. Changing Direction

To change the direction of the train, first bring the locomotive to a complete stop by turning the speed controller to the "STOP" or zero position. Then, press the direction change button (if available on your speed controller) or turn the knob counter-clockwise past the zero point to reverse direction. Slowly increase speed again.

3. Stopping the Train

To stop the train, slowly turn the speed controller knob counter-clockwise until it reaches the "STOP" or zero position. Always stop the train before making any adjustments to the track or train components.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Track

Regularly clean the track rails with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust and debris. For stubborn dirt, a specialized track cleaning fluid can be used sparingly. Clean tracks ensure optimal electrical contact and smooth operation.

2. Locomotive and Wagon Cleaning

Wipe the locomotive and wagons with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish.

3. Lubrication

Periodically, apply a small amount of model train lubricant to the moving parts of the locomotive, such as axles and gears, as specified by Piko. Refer to specific Piko locomotive maintenance guides for detailed lubrication points.

4. Storage

When not in use, store the train set in its original packaging or a protective container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
