Setup and Installation
The EWR-10-17 rack features a tool-free Quick-Mount system designed for efficient one-person installation of the center section onto the backpan.
- Mounting the Backpan:
Secure the backpan to a suitable wall surface using appropriate fasteners (not included). Ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound and capable of supporting the rack's maximum load of 250 pounds. The backpan includes integral mounting clips for power strips.
Utilize the electrical knockouts (0.5”, 0.75”, 1”, 1.5”) and the 10.5'' x 10.5'' pull-box as needed for cable management.
- Attaching the Center Section:
Align the center section with the mounted backpan. The Quick-Mount system allows for easy, tool-free attachment. Ensure the center section is securely engaged with the backpan's mounting clips.
- Installing Rack Equipment:
The rack features standard 11-gauge, 10-32 threaded rackrail with marked rackspace increments. These rackrails are adjustable to three positions: 0.13'', 0.63'', and 1.13'' depth. Mount your equipment using 10-32 rack screws (not included), ensuring even weight distribution.
- Securing the Rack:
The center section is reversible and padlockable, keyed separately from any optional front door. Ensure the center section is securely latched and locked if desired.
Operating the Pivoting Mechanism
The EWR Series rack is designed to pivot away from the wall, providing convenient access to the rear of installed equipment for cabling and maintenance.
- Unlocking: If the center section is locked, use the appropriate key to unlock it.
- Pivoting: Carefully pull the center section away from the wall. The pivoting mechanism will allow it to swing open. Support the weight of the rack and equipment during this process.
- Access: Once pivoted, you will have full access to the rear of your rack-mounted devices.
- Closing: Gently push the center section back towards the wall until it latches securely. Lock the section if required.
Caution: Always ensure the rack is stable and equipment is secure before pivoting. Avoid sudden movements.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and proper function of your EWR-10-17 rack.
- Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Periodically check all mounting hardware and rack screws for tightness. Ensure the pivoting mechanism operates smoothly and without excessive play.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the rack's ventilation openings are not obstructed to maintain optimal passive thermal management.
Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter.
- Rack not pivoting smoothly: Check for obstructions or debris in the pivoting mechanism. Ensure all equipment is properly seated and not interfering with movement.
- Equipment not fitting: Verify that your equipment is standard 19-inch rack-mountable and that you are using the correct rack screws (10-32 threaded). Check the rackrail depth adjustment.
- Rack feels unstable: Re-check all wall mounting fasteners and ensure they are securely tightened. Confirm that the center section is fully engaged with the backpan. Ensure equipment weight is evenly distributed.
