5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit (refer to Figure 4.3).
- Insert 2x AAA batteries according to the polarity markings (+ and -) inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
The clock will automatically begin searching for the DCF-77 radio signal after battery insertion.
5.2 Initial Setup and Radio Control
The Technoline WT 221-T is a DCF-77 radio controlled clock. It automatically synchronizes with the atomic clock signal for precise timekeeping. Ensure the clock is placed in an area with good reception, away from electronic interference.
- Upon first power-up, the clock will attempt to receive the DCF-77 signal. A signal icon will typically flash on the display.
- Once the signal is successfully received, the time and date will be set automatically. The signal icon will become steady.
- If reception is poor, try moving the clock to a different location, preferably near a window.
- To manually initiate a signal search, press and hold the "WAVE" button (part of °C/°F / WAVE button).
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Manual Time Setting (if radio control fails)
In areas with no DCF-77 signal, or if you prefer, you can set the time manually.
- Press and hold the MODE button until the hour digits begin to flash.
- Use the ZONE button to adjust the hour.
- Press MODE again to move to the minute setting. Use ZONE to adjust minutes.
- Continue pressing MODE to cycle through year, month, and day settings, adjusting each with the ZONE button.
- Press MODE one last time to confirm settings and exit manual setting mode.
6.2 12/24 Hour Display
To switch between 12-hour (with AM/PM indicator) and 24-hour time display:
- In normal time display mode, press the MODE button briefly to toggle between 12h and 24h format.
6.3 Time Zone Setting
The time zone setting allows for an offset of ±1 hour from the received DCF-77 time.
- In normal time display mode, press the ZONE button briefly to adjust the time zone. The display will show "+1h" or "-1h" if an offset is applied.
6.4 Alarm Setting and Activation
- Press the MODE button repeatedly until the alarm time is displayed (usually indicated by an alarm icon).
- Press and hold the MODE button until the alarm hour digits flash.
- Use the ZONE button to set the desired alarm hour.
- Press MODE again to move to the alarm minute setting. Use ZONE to adjust minutes.
- Press MODE one last time to confirm the alarm setting.
- To activate or deactivate the alarm, press the ALM ON/OFF button. An alarm icon will appear on the display when the alarm is active.
When the alarm sounds, press any button (except ALM ON/OFF) to activate the snooze function. The alarm will sound again after approximately 5 minutes. To stop the alarm completely, press the ALM ON/OFF button.
6.5 Temperature Display (°C/°F)
The clock displays the indoor temperature.
- Press the °C/°F button briefly to toggle the temperature display between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
6.6 Backlight
The clock features a backlight for easy viewing in low light conditions.
- Press the top silver bar of the clock to activate the backlight. The backlight will illuminate for a few seconds.
7. Maintenance
- Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Replace batteries when the display becomes dim or the clock stops functioning correctly.
- Ensure the battery compartment is always sealed to prevent dust and moisture ingress.
8. Troubleshooting
