4. Maintenance and Care

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Medline Transport Wheelchair, regular maintenance is recommended.

  • Cleaning: The black nylon upholstery is easy to clean. Wipe down the frame and upholstery with a damp cloth and mild soap as needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Wheel Inspection: Periodically check the wheels for any debris, wear, or damage. Ensure they spin freely.
  • Brake Check: Regularly test the rear-wheel locking brakes to ensure they engage securely.
  • General Inspection: Inspect all nuts, bolts, and moving parts for tightness and proper function. Tighten any loose fasteners.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Medline Transport Wheelchair, please refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Difficulty Folding/Unfolding: Ensure the seat is fully lifted or pushed down, and no obstructions are preventing the frame from collapsing or expanding. Check that footrests are properly positioned.
  • Brakes Not Holding: Verify that the brake levers are fully engaged. Inspect the brake pads and wheels for excessive wear or debris that might prevent proper locking.
  • Squeaking/Sticking Wheels: Clean the wheel axles and bearings. A small amount of silicone-based lubricant may be applied if necessary, avoiding contact with brake surfaces.
