2. Safety Information
- Always disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet before cleaning the monitor.
- Do not expose the monitor to rain or moisture.
- Do not open the monitor casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
- Place the monitor on a stable surface to prevent it from falling.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the monitor. Do not block ventilation openings.
- Use only the power adapter and cables supplied with the monitor.

4. Setup
4.1 Assembling the Stand
Carefully place the monitor face down on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches. Attach the base to the stand column and secure it with the provided screw. Then, attach the assembled stand to the monitor by aligning the tabs and pushing until it clicks into place. Ensure it is securely fastened.
4.2 Connecting Cables
Connect the necessary cables to the corresponding ports on the back of the monitor and your computer or other devices.
- Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the monitor's power input and then to a power outlet.
- Video Connection:
- For optimal quality, use an HDMI or DVI cable to connect your computer's video output to the monitor's HDMI or DVI-D input.
- Alternatively, use a VGA cable to connect your computer's VGA output to the monitor's D-Sub input.
- Audio Connection: If using DVI or VGA for video, connect the audio cable from your computer's audio output to the monitor's 3.5mm Mini-jack audio input for sound through the integrated speakers. HDMI carries audio automatically.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
Press the power button located on the front right side of the monitor to turn it on or off. The power indicator light will illuminate when the monitor is on.

5.2 On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu
The OSD menu allows you to adjust various monitor settings. Use the buttons on the front panel to navigate and select options.
- MENU Button: Press to open the OSD menu.
- Up/Down Buttons (▲/▼): Navigate through menu options.
- LEFT/RIGHT Buttons (◄/►): Adjust selected settings or move between sub-menus.
- EXIT/SELECT Button: Confirm selection or exit the current menu.
- AUTO Button: Automatically adjusts image position, phase, and clock for VGA input.

Adjust the volume of the integrated speakers using the volume control buttons or through the OSD menu. Ensure your audio source is properly connected and configured.

- SPLENDID Video Intelligence Technology: Offers 5 preset video modes (e.g., Standard, Theater, Game, Night View, Scenery) and 3 skin-tone presets to optimize image quality for different content. Access via the OSD menu or a dedicated hotkey.
- ASCR (ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio): Dynamically enhances the display's contrast ratio to deliver sharper and brighter images.
- Aspect Control: Allows users to select a preferred display mode among Full, 4:3, or 1:1 without image distortion.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning the Monitor
To clean the monitor screen, lightly dampen a soft, lint-free cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive screen cleaner. Wipe the screen gently. For the casing, use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using alcohol, ammonia, or abrasive cleaners.
6.2 General Care
- Avoid placing heavy objects on the monitor or its cables.

9. Warranty and Support
9.1 Warranty Information
The ASUS VH242H monitor comes with an ASUS 3-year LCD monitor warranty for its casing and panel. Accessories and cables are covered by a 1-year warranty.
Within the 3-year warranty period, if more than 3 bright dots and/or 5 dark dots are found, ASUS will replace the panel. A bright dot is defined as a white defective dot over 1/2 of the whole sub-pixel under a BLACK pattern. A dark dot is defined as a black defective dot over 1/2 of the whole sub-pixel under any pattern.
