4.1 Assembling the Stand

Carefully place the monitor face down on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches. Attach the base to the stand column and secure it with the provided screw. Then, attach the assembled stand to the monitor by aligning the tabs and pushing until it clicks into place. Ensure it is securely fastened.

4.2 Connecting Cables

Connect the necessary cables to the corresponding ports on the back of the monitor and your computer or other devices.

  1. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the monitor's power input and then to a power outlet.
  2. Video Connection:
    • For optimal quality, use an HDMI or DVI cable to connect your computer's video output to the monitor's HDMI or DVI-D input.
    • Alternatively, use a VGA cable to connect your computer's VGA output to the monitor's D-Sub input.
  3. Audio Connection: If using DVI or VGA for video, connect the audio cable from your computer's audio output to the monitor's 3.5mm Mini-jack audio input for sound through the integrated speakers. HDMI carries audio automatically.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Press the power button located on the front right side of the monitor to turn it on or off. The power indicator light will illuminate when the monitor is on.

5.2 On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu

The OSD menu allows you to adjust various monitor settings. Use the buttons on the front panel to navigate and select options.

5.3 Input Selection

To switch between video inputs (HDMI, DVI, VGA), press the "Input" button (often combined with another function or accessible via the OSD menu) and select your desired source.

No sound from speakers
  • Ensure the audio cable is connected (if not using HDMI).
  • Check the monitor's volume settings in the OSD menu.
  • Verify the computer's audio output is not muted and volume is up.
  • If using HDMI, ensure your computer's sound output is set to the HDMI device.
"No Signal" message
  • Confirm the video cable is connected to the correct input port.
  • Select the correct input source using the monitor's OSD menu.
  • Restart your computer.

9.1 Warranty Information

The ASUS VH242H monitor comes with an ASUS 3-year LCD monitor warranty for its casing and panel. Accessories and cables are covered by a 1-year warranty.

Within the 3-year warranty period, if more than 3 bright dots and/or 5 dark dots are found, ASUS will replace the panel. A bright dot is defined as a white defective dot over 1/2 of the whole sub-pixel under a BLACK pattern. A dark dot is defined as a black defective dot over 1/2 of the whole sub-pixel under any pattern.
