Setup

  1. Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the jack on the left side of the telephone base.
  2. Connect to Phone Line: Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the jack labeled "LINE" on the back of the telephone base. Plug the other end into your wall telephone jack.
  3. Power Source: The HD-40P phone is powered directly by the telephone line and does not require an external power adapter or batteries for basic operation.

Operating Instructions

Making a Call

  1. Using the Handset: Pick up the handset. Listen for a dial tone.
  2. Using Speakerphone: Press the SPEAKER button. Listen for a dial tone.
  3. Dialing:
    • Standard Dialing: Enter the desired phone number using the large numeric keypad.
    • Photo Speed Dial: Press one of the nine photo speed dial buttons. The phone will automatically dial the pre-programmed number.

Receiving a Call

  1. When the phone rings and the visual ringer indicator flashes, pick up the handset or press the SPEAKER button to answer.
  2. To end the call, replace the handset or press the SPEAKER button again.

Adjusting Volume and Tone

  1. During a call, slide the VOL slider to increase or decrease the listening volume.
  2. Use the TONE switch (bass, 1, 2, 3, treble) to adjust the frequency response for clearer sound based on your hearing preference.
  3. Press the AMPLIFY button for an additional volume boost up to 26dB.

Programming Photo Speed Dial Buttons

  1. Lift the handset or press the SPEAKER button.
  2. Press the PROG button.
  3. Press the desired photo speed dial button (1-9) you wish to program.
  4. Enter the phone number (up to 24 digits) you want to store for that button.
  5. Press the PROG button again to save.
  6. Replace the handset or press the SPEAKER button to exit programming mode.
  7. To insert a picture, carefully lift the clear plastic cover on the photo button, insert a trimmed photo, and replace the cover.

Cannot hear caller / Caller cannot hear me

  • Ensure the handset cord is securely connected.
  • If using speakerphone, ensure you are speaking clearly towards the phone.
Phone does not ring
  • Check the ringer volume setting (if available, typically a switch on the side or back).

  • The visual ringer indicator should still flash even if the audible ring is off.
Speed dial not working
  • Re-program the speed dial button to ensure the number was stored correctly.
  • Ensure you are pressing the photo button firmly.
