- Manufactured in the United States
- Commercial Brand: Turbotorch
- Extreme Swirl Technology for high heat and fast operation, optimizing brazing time and fuel efficiency.
- Includes gauge guards and a cylinder wrench for convenience and protection.
- Quick-disconnect handles and tips for easy assembly and disassembly.
- Color-coded "O" rings for clear gas identification.
- Valve Position: Rear
Setup Instructions
- Inspect Components: Before assembly, carefully inspect all components of the kit for any signs of damage or wear. Ensure all connections are clean and free of debris.
- Connect Regulator: Attach the regulator to the acetylene cylinder. Ensure a tight, leak-free connection. Use the provided cylinder wrench if necessary.
- Attach Hose: Connect the hose to the regulator's outlet and to the torch handle's inlet. Hand-tighten connections, then use a wrench to secure them firmly.
- Install Tip: Select the appropriate brazing or soldering tip and securely attach it to the torch handle using the quick-disconnect mechanism.
- Check for Leaks: Before igniting, open the cylinder valve slowly and apply a leak detection solution (soapy water) to all connections. Bubbles indicate a leak, which must be corrected before use.
Operating Instructions
- Prepare Work Area: Ensure the work area is well-ventilated, free of flammable materials, and equipped with appropriate fire suppression tools.
- Open Gas Valve: Slowly open the acetylene cylinder valve. Adjust the regulator to the recommended operating pressure for your specific application.
- Ignite Torch: Point the torch tip away from yourself and others. Use the self-lighting mechanism on the torch handle to ignite the flame. If the torch does not have a self-lighting feature, use a spark lighter.
- Adjust Flame: Adjust the gas flow at the torch handle to achieve the desired flame size and intensity for brazing or soldering. The Extreme Swirl Technology provides a concentrated, hot flame.
- Perform Brazing/Soldering: Apply the flame to the workpiece, heating it evenly to the required temperature. Introduce the brazing or soldering filler material to the heated joint.
- Shut Down: When finished, first close the gas valve on the torch handle. Then, close the main valve on the acetylene cylinder. Allow the flame to extinguish. Bleed any remaining gas from the hose by briefly opening the torch valve until the pressure gauge reads zero.
Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the hose, connections, and torch tip for any signs of damage, cracks, or leaks. Replace worn or damaged parts immediately.
- Tip Cleaning: Clean the torch tips regularly to prevent carbon buildup and ensure optimal flame performance. Use appropriate tip cleaners.
- Storage: Store the kit in a clean, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Disconnect the regulator and hose from the cylinder when not in use for extended periods.
- O-Ring Check: Ensure the color-coded O-rings are in good condition and properly seated to maintain gas identification and prevent leaks.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No flame or weak flame | Gas cylinder empty; Regulator pressure too low; Clogged torch tip; Leaking connections. | Replace cylinder; Adjust regulator; Clean tip; Check for and seal leaks. |
| Flame sputters or pops | Improper gas pressure; Dirty tip; Loose connections. | Adjust pressure; Clean tip; Tighten connections. |
| Gas leak detected | Loose connections; Damaged hose or O-rings. | Tighten all connections; Replace damaged hose or O-rings. |
