6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will help prolong the life and functionality of your M-Wave U-Lock:

  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of graphite-based lubricant or a specialized lock lubricant into the keyway and the shackle mechanism. This helps prevent corrosion and ensures smooth operation. Avoid oil-based lubricants as they can attract dirt.
  • Cleaning: Wipe down the lock with a damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Ensure the lock is dry before storage.
  • Key Care: Do not force the key if it feels stiff. Apply lubricant and try again. Avoid using damaged or bent keys.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your M-Wave U-Lock, consider the following:

  • Key is Stiff or Won't Turn: The lock mechanism might be dirty or dry. Apply lock lubricant to the keyway and try again. Ensure you are using the correct key.
  • Shackle is Stuck: Check for any obstructions in the shackle openings or within the crossbar. Lubricate the mechanism as described in the maintenance section.
  • Lock is Frozen: In cold weather, moisture inside the lock can freeze. Use a de-icing spray or warm the lock gently (e.g., with warm water, then dry thoroughly) to thaw it.
