Setup and Installation
The BLACK+DECKER Spacemaker Toaster Oven is designed for under-cabinet mounting to maximize countertop space. Follow these steps for proper installation:
- Unpack the Appliance: Carefully remove all packaging materials, including any protective films or stickers. Retain packaging for future transport if needed.
- Choose Location: Select a suitable under-cabinet location. Ensure there is at least 4 inches (10 cm) of clearance from any vertical surfaces and any horizontal surfaces directly below the unit for proper ventilation and safety.
- Mounting Bracket Assembly: The under-cabinet mounting kit is included. Assemble the mounting bracket according to the diagrams provided in the separate installation guide.
- Marking Drill Holes: Position the mounting bracket under the cabinet where the oven will be installed. Use the provided stencil or the bracket itself to accurately mark the drill points for the mounting screws. It is recommended to mark two front holes first, then use the stencil to align the remaining holes precisely.
- Drilling: Drill pilot holes at the marked locations. Ensure the drill bit size is appropriate for the mounting screws to prevent splitting the cabinet wood.
- Attach Mounting Bracket: Secure the mounting bracket to the underside of the cabinet using the provided screws. Use the appropriate length screws and spacers (thin, medium, or long) to ensure a flush and secure fit, especially if your cabinet has a lip. Spacers are typically needed for the back two bolts if mounting flush with the cabinet edge.
- Attach Toaster Oven: Carefully lift the toaster oven and align its top hooks with the slots on the mounted bracket. Slide the oven into place until it clicks securely. Ensure the "ears" that hook into the notch at the top of the toaster oven are not bent during this process. If they are, gently bend them back into shape with small pliers before attempting to attach.
- Secure the Oven: Once the oven is hooked onto the bracket, secure it further using any additional screws or fasteners as indicated in the installation guide.
- Power Connection: Plug the appliance into a standard electrical outlet.
