Please read this manual carefully before operating your walkie-talkie to ensure proper use, optimal performance, and to prevent damage.

2. Safety Information

  • Battery Safety: Use only specified batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
  • Antenna Care: Do not touch the antenna during transmission. Do not use the device if the antenna is damaged.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the walkie-talkie is turned off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
  3. Slide the latch or unscrew the cover to open the compartment.
  4. Insert the rechargeable battery pack, ensuring the contacts align correctly.
  5. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it.

5.2 Charging the Batteries

  1. Place the walkie-talkie(s) into the dual charging dock. Ensure the charging contacts on the walkie-talkie align with those on the dock.
  2. Connect the AC adapter to the charging dock and then plug it into a standard wall outlet.
  3. The charging indicator light on the dock (or walkie-talkie) will illuminate, typically red for charging and green for fully charged.
  4. Allow approximately 8-10 hours for a full charge before first use.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment

  • To Power On: Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise until you hear a click and the display illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Rotate the Power/Volume knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click and the display turns off.
  • Volume Adjustment: Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease volume.

6.2 Channel Selection

The Brondi FX-600 Sun features 8 channels for communication.

  1. With the walkie-talkie powered on, press the Menu button once. The channel number on the display will flash.
  2. Use the Up or Down buttons to select your desired channel (1-8).
  3. Press the PTT button or the Menu button again to confirm your selection and exit the menu.
  4. Ensure all walkie-talkies you wish to communicate with are set to the same channel.

6.3 Transmitting and Receiving

  • To Transmit: Press and hold the PTT button. Speak clearly into the microphone, holding the walkie-talkie approximately 5-10 cm from your mouth. The transmit indicator (usually red) will light up.
  • To Receive: Release the PTT button. The receive indicator (usually green) will light up when a signal is being received.

6.4 Call Tone Function

To send a call tone to other walkie-talkies on the same channel:

  • Briefly press the Call button (if available, often combined with another function or a dedicated button). Refer to your device's specific button layout.
  • A distinct tone will be transmitted, alerting other users.

6.5 VOX (Voice Operated Exchange) Function

VOX allows hands-free operation by automatically transmitting when you speak into the microphone.

  1. Press the Menu button multiple times until the VOX icon appears on the display.
  2. Use the Up or Down buttons to select the VOX sensitivity level (e.g., 1-3, with 3 being most sensitive) or to turn VOX off (OF).
  3. Press the PTT button or Menu button to confirm.
  4. When VOX is active, the walkie-talkie will automatically transmit when it detects your voice.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the walkie-talkie with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: If storing the device for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Battery Care: Recharge batteries regularly, even if not in frequent use, to maintain their lifespan.
