1. Product Overview

The Technoline WS 8005 is a versatile digital clock designed for both table and wall mounting. It features radio-controlled time synchronization (DCF-77 signal for German version), ensuring highly accurate time display. This clock also includes an alarm with snooze function, 12/24-hour display options, a 7-language weekday display, and an indoor temperature measurement in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

2. Setup and Initial Operation

2.1. Battery Installation

The Technoline WS 8005 requires 2 AA batteries (not included). Ensure correct polarity when inserting the batteries.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the clock.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert 2 new AA batteries, matching the (+) and (-) terminals as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2.2. Initial Time Synchronization

Upon battery installation, the clock will automatically begin searching for the DCF-77 radio signal to set the time. This process may take several minutes to an hour, depending on your location and signal strength. Place the clock near a window for better reception during initial setup.

  • An antenna icon will typically appear on the display when the clock is receiving the signal.
  • Once synchronized, the exact time, date, and day will be displayed.

2.3. Manual Time Setting (if radio signal is unavailable)

If the radio signal is consistently weak or unavailable, you can manually set the time and date.

  1. Refer to the specific buttons on the back of your clock (e.g., SET, UP, DOWN).
  2. Press and hold the SET button to enter time setting mode.
  3. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to adjust the hour, minute, year, month, and day.
  4. Press SET again to confirm each setting and move to the next.
  5. Exit setting mode by pressing SET one last time or waiting for the display to time out.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1. Time Zone Setting

The clock allows for time zone adjustments to compensate for regional differences from the DCF-77 signal.

  • Press the TIME ZONE button (or similar, refer to your specific unit's button labels).
  • Use the UP/DOWN buttons to adjust the time zone offset (e.g., +1, -2 hours).
  • Confirm the setting.

3.2. Alarm and Snooze Function

To set the alarm:

  1. Press the ALARM button to display the alarm time.
  2. Press and hold ALARM to enter alarm setting mode.
  3. Use UP/DOWN to set the desired alarm hour and minute.
  4. Press ALARM to confirm.
  5. To activate/deactivate the alarm, press the ALARM ON/OFF button (or similar). An alarm icon will appear when active.

When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE button to temporarily silence it for a few minutes. The alarm will sound again after the snooze period. To stop the alarm completely, press any other button (e.g., ALARM, SET).

3.3. 12/24 Hour Display

Toggle between 12-hour (with AM/PM indicator) and 24-hour time formats by pressing the 12/24 HR button (or similar).

3.4. Weekday Language Display

The clock supports 7 languages for the weekday display. Press the LANGUAGE button (or similar) repeatedly to cycle through the available languages until your preferred language is shown.

3.5. Temperature Unit Selection

Switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) for the indoor temperature display by pressing the °C/°F button (or similar).

4. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the clock with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the display or casing.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the display dims or the clock stops functioning correctly. Always replace both batteries at the same time with new ones.
  • Storage: If storing the clock for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
