Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the Monopoly Heirloom Edition board game. This edition is designed to be a cherished item, passed down through generations, offering a luxurious and enhanced gameplay experience.

Game Components

The Monopoly Heirloom Edition includes the following components:

• Beautifully stained solid wood, hinged-lid box with hardware and solid brass medallion
• Game Log to record family memories: when you played, with whom, and who won!
• An extra and unique piggy bank token specially designed for this edition
• Velvet bag to hold dice and 11 "gold" tokens
• 2 interior levels with removable wooden Banker's Tray, all completely flocked
• 7 metal coins (one for each denomination) based on coins in our archives
• Redesigned paper money
• Square game board with heirloom graphics and stamped with the heirloom design
• Redesigned Chance, Community Chest, and Title Deed cards

Setup

1. Place the game board on a flat surface.
2. Separate the Chance, Community Chest, and Title Deed cards. Shuffle the Chance and Community Chest cards and place them face down on their designated spaces on the board.
3. Each player selects a token.
4. One player is designated as the Banker. The Banker is responsible for all money, Title Deeds, houses, and hotels not owned by players. The Banker also collects taxes and fines and pays salaries and bonuses.
5. The Banker distributes initial money to each player: two $500s, four $100s, one $50, one $20, two $10s, one $5, and five $1s.
6. Place houses and hotels near the board.
7. Each player rolls both dice. The player with the highest total starts the game. In case of a tie, roll again.

Gameplay

Players take turns rolling two dice and moving their token clockwise around the board. The space a player lands on determines the action to be taken.

Player Turn Sequence:

1. Roll Dice and Move: Roll two dice and move your token the corresponding number of spaces.
2. Action Based on Space:
   • Unowned Property: You may buy the property from the Bank at its printed price. If you do not wish to buy it, the Banker immediately offers it for auction to the highest bidder.
   • Owned Property: If another player owns the property, you must pay rent. The rent amount is listed on the Title Deed card.
   • Chance or Community Chest: Draw the top card from the respective pile and follow its instructions.
   • Tax Spaces: Pay the indicated tax to the Bank.
   • Go to Jail: Move your token directly to the "In Jail" space. You do not collect $200 for passing GO.
   • Free Parking: No action is taken.
   • GO: If you land on or pass GO, collect $200 from the Bank.
3. Doubles: If you roll doubles, take your turn as usual, then roll the dice again for another turn. If you roll doubles three times in a row, you must immediately go to Jail.
4. Building: After moving and taking action, you may buy houses or hotels on properties you own (if you own all properties in a color group).
5. Trading: You may trade properties, money, or "Get Out of Jail Free" cards with other players at any time.

Winning the Game:

The last player remaining in the game after all others have gone bankrupt is the winner.

Maintenance

• Store all game components in the provided wooden box to prevent loss or damage.
• Keep the game board and cards clean and dry. Wipe surfaces with a soft, dry cloth if necessary.
• Handle metal tokens and coins with care to maintain their finish.
• Ensure the wooden box is stored in a stable environment, away from extreme temperatures or humidity, to preserve the wood.

Troubleshooting

• Missing Components: Carefully check all compartments of the wooden box. If components are genuinely missing upon unboxing, contact the manufacturer.
• Disputes over Rules: Refer to the official Monopoly rulebook (not included in this manual but generally available with the game or online) for clarification on specific rules.
• Damaged Components: For minor damage, consider repair if possible. For significant damage, replacement parts may be available from the manufacturer.
